■Background of packaging renewal and 15g size development:
Easy-to-bite non-fried snacks were created with the support of Meiji Accelerator to develop sweets that allow people with dietary restrictions to feel safe and enjoy eating. This is a snack that I developed together with Mr. After its release, many people have eaten it, and we have received many requests for easier purchasing in small quantities, so we have now released a 15g package of easy-to-eat non-fried snacks. In addition, Gentle Hitokuchi was born out of the needs of people with sensitive stomachs, but after the product’s release, we realized that people with various dietary restrictions and particular preferences would also enjoy it, and more and more people were inspired to develop the product. We have renewed our product packaging in collaboration with Yoko Yamasato of design studio Ito, in order to convey our commitment to our customers.
■Comment from design studio ItoYoko Yamari
[Image 4:×640.jpg] It was a design that allowed us to face the issue of “eating”. I feel that a simple bite is a snack that many people enjoy eating and that creates hope. The heptagonal shape drawn on the package symbolizes light and expresses the joy of eating. Eating is a way of life, and joy is essential. We designed this snack to be a gentle bite that brings joy to many people. ■Background and history behind the development of Easy Bite It is said that there are approximately 300,000 patients nationwide with inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD) such as ulcerative colitis and Crohn’s disease, and the late former Prime Minister Abe and track and field athlete Kiryu have announced that there are approximately 300,000 patients nationwide. It is also known as In addition to daily gastrointestinal symptoms such as abdominal pain, diarrhea, and bloody stools, many patients are said to have trouble eating, as they may require hospitalization or surgery if their symptoms worsen. In addition, it is said that 12 million people nationwide suffer from irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), which does not involve intestinal inflammation like IBD, but causes unexplained abdominal pain, diarrhea, and constipation. While interacting with IBD and IBS patients through G Community, an online community for IBD patients, and Gutte Recipe, a recipe site for people with stomach concerns, we have learned that there are few snacks (snacks) that can be eaten safely and deliciously. I’ve heard many people say, “I want to easily get the nutrients that I tend to lack.” Under these circumstances, dietary therapy for people with sensitive stomachs, including those suffering from IBD and IBS, has been rapidly developing overseas in recent years, and our representative Miyazaki has been involved in research at the University of Michigan in the United States. It is attracting a lot of attention at home and abroad. “Easy Hitokuchi” is a sweet that is “designed to be easy on the stomach (low fat x naturally derived ingredients x low FODMAP food)” and has “tastiness” that you can enjoy with just one bite. Normally, it is technically difficult to develop delicious sweets with a design that is easy on the stomach, but by obtaining advice on raw materials, formulations, manufacturing methods, etc. at Meiji Accelerator, we can create rich sweets that can be enjoyed with just one bite. We realized the taste and launched “Easy One-Bite Non-Fried Snack” on December 11, 2023, and “Easy One-Bite Puff Crunch” on January 28, 2024. . In addition, “Yashii Hitokuchi” is certified by FODMAP Friendly, an Australian low-FODMAP certification organization that is used by Kellogg’s and other companies, and is based on the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare’s standards for diet and nutritional intake during pregnancy, and the certified dietitian’s standards. We have obtained maternity food certification from the Japan Maternity Food Association based on standards established under the supervision of the Japan Maternity Food Association. ■Easy bite non-fried snack 15g Packaging summary Non-fried snack Specialty cheese Price: 349 yen (tax included) Contents: 15g Ingredients: Uruchi brown rice (domestic), cheese powder (gorgonzola 10%), salt, miso powder, (some Contains dairy ingredients) Non-fried snack Cacao price: 349 yen (tax included) Contents: 15g Ingredients: Non-fried brown rice (domestic), sugar, cocoa powder, rice oil Non-fried snack Truffle price: 349 yen (tax included) Contents: 15g Ingredients: Uruchi brown rice (domestic), truffle oil, salt Non-fried snack set of 6 bags (2 bags each of special cheese, cacao, and truffle) Price: 1,944 yen (tax included) ■What is a low FODMAP diet?A low FODMAP diet is a digestive system. This is a diet that eliminates carbohydrates with short sugar chains, FODMAPs, which tend to affect symptoms. FODMAPs are Fermentable, Oligosaccharides, Disaccharides, Monosaccharides, Fructose, and Polyols. A generic term for xylitol, glycerol). Some people with sensitive stomachs may not be able to absorb some of these FODMAPs in the small intestine compared to healthy people, and the remaining FODMAPs may absorb water and cause diarrhea, or FODMAPs may be It passes into the large intestine and is fermented excessively by intestinal bacteria, producing gas that may cause abdominal pain. A variety of large-scale studies have been conducted on the low FODMAP diet, and it is widely used overseas. Please check the link below for details. On the other hand, the low FODMAP diet is said to be difficult to implement due to its
complexity. Therefore, overseas countries are actively developing and selling low-FODMAP products that meet low-FODMAP dietary standards, and some products are even sold at supermarkets. Meiji Accelerator Homepage: ■About Inflammatory Bowel Disease Inflammatory bowel disease is an inflammatory disease that causes ulcers in the mucous membrane of the intestinal tract. Symptoms include abdominal pain, diarrhea, and melena, and in many cases there are repeated cycles of “remission,” where the symptoms improve, and “flarebacks,” where the symptoms worsen, reducing QOL (quality of life). The onset mechanism of this disease is still unknown, and it has been designated as a “designated intractable disease” by the Minister of Health, Labor and Welfare. The number of patients in Japan is approximately 220,000 for ulcerative colitis and approximately 70,000 for Crohn’s disease, and these numbers have been increasing in recent years 1). “For everyone with ulcerative colitis: Basic knowledge necessary for treatment” (March 2020) by the Health, Labor and Welfare Scientific Research Grant Intractable Disease Policy Research Project “Research and Research on Intractable Inflammatory Intestinal Disorders” (Revised), “For everyone with Crohn’s disease: Basic knowledge necessary for treatment” (Revised in March 2020) ■About Irritable Bowel Syndrome Irritable bowel syndrome is
characterized by persistent abdominal pain associated with defecation, such as diarrhea or constipation. The onset mechanism of the disease has not been elucidated. Symptoms include abdominal pain and diarrhea, and it is a disease that leads to a decline in QOL (quality of life), affecting daily life such as transportation, school, work, and life events such as marriage. The estimated number of patients is said to be around 10% of the total population, and it is thought that approximately 1 in 10 people are affected2).
