Supporting team farming management with digital power
Japan Agricultural Information System Association (Location: Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo, Representative: Shimomura) works to spread awareness of smart agriculture.
Gotoku (hereinafter referred to as “JAISA”) has started providing a “service for strengthening the team management capabilities of agricultural management organizations” that supports agricultural management by teams of agricultural corporations and community farming organizations using the power of digital technology. In addition to providing this service, we will also recruit IT coordinators from all over the country with the cooperation of the IT Coordinator
Association, a specified non-profit organization, and develop “agricultural DX support human resources” who will work closely with the local community and support agricultural management organizations. We have started a training program to

As the working-age population declines and the shortage of
agricultural workers becomes more serious, we aim to improve agricultural productivity and resolve the labor shortage by realizing “smart agriculture” that utilizes cutting-edge technologies such as robots, AI, and IoT. This has become an urgent matter. In order to introduce and utilize this smart agricultural technology and realize sustainable agricultural management that is easy to work in, it is necessary to find practical solutions that can be immediately applied to solve the problems at hand from among the numerous products and services, and to bring them into the field. Wisdom and ingenuity are needed to apply and make full use of it.

In today’s era of major changes in agriculture, where the domestic and overseas business environments are drastically changing, and the breadth and depth of agricultural management is dramatically expanding and becoming more complex, we are not limited to smart farming, but farmers are gathering together to learn and discover. Sharing information and wisdom is essential, and it is more important than ever to run the farm as a team rather than as an individual.

Therefore, JAISA has been engaged in activities to disseminate and raise awareness of agricultural DX (digital transformation) through the provision of information such as symposiums, exhibitions, and lectures on smart agriculture, which we have been engaged in since our establishment in 2014. We have decided to start providing a service to strengthen the team management capabilities of agricultural management entities, which directly supports agricultural management by teams using the power of digital technology.

Additionally, in conjunction with the provision of this service, we will begin a training program to develop “Agricultural DX Support Human Resources” who will provide support to agricultural management organizations in local communities throughout the country. With the cooperation of the IT Coordinator Association, a specified non-profit organization, we will recruit IT coordinators from all over the country and will provide them with information necessary for team management using digital technology, such as agricultural management issues, smart agricultural technology, business improvement, information sharing, and human resource development. Acquire comprehensive knowledge. Approximately 40 IT coordinators are currently participating in this program.

At JAISA, we use digital technology to improve work efficiency through the effective use of information, refine management figures based on accumulated data, improve the speed of human resource development by visualizing know-how and tips, and create a comfortable workplace. Support the next generation of farmers (smart farmers) who can realize sustainable growth of agricultural management by utilizing it effectively, accelerate the DX of agriculture that supports the region, and contribute to expanding farmers’ profits and stabilizing their management. We will continue to.

■About services to strengthen team management skills for agricultural management entities
Analyze and visualize issues through assessing the current status of the farm, organize the direction of future management improvement, and digitally improve farm management by the team, such as improving operational efficiency, utilizing data, and developing human resources in line with the use of smart agricultural technology. We will support you with the power of

-STEP1-
Self-assessment will be conducted using an assessment sheet regarding the farm’s management status and business issues. We organize the current situation by selecting the one that fits the situation of the farm management entity from five types of assessments: changes in the management environment, collaborative working mechanisms, review of resource allocation, human capital management, and quality and productivity. Then, we verbalize and visualize what we want the farm to look like five years into the future as an organizational vision.

-STEP2-
We will improve situations where essential information for operations, such as the farm’s annual schedule, work plan, division of roles, and basic procedures, is “lost”. We combine analog methods such as documentation and bulletin boards, using whiteboards, monitors, and wall surfaces to quickly visualize the results.

-STEP3-
We define key performance points (KPIs) for farm management, standard values for work standards, and improvement targets. We formulate improvement plans for the development and improvement of technologies, machines, tools, procedures, human resources, etc. to achieve the improvement goals, and support their gradual introduction and utilization.

-STEP4-
We regularly measure the progress of implementing measures and understand the achievements quantitatively and qualitatively. We support the creation of strategies and opportunities for continued dialogue within the team in order to share understanding and align vectors. We review the results, formulate the next move, and continue to run the PDCA cycle.
