[Inquiry learning] Staff from a long-sleeved kimono specialty store and photo studio will be teaching! Marketing classes held at local high schools! Mie Prefectural Yokkaichi Commercial High School and First Stage Co., Ltd. launch a groundbreaking initiative
*On June 8, 2024, First Stage Co., Ltd. held a class on “Kimono and Photo Marketing” at Mie Prefectural Yokkaichi Commercial High School. *
The program was very popular with the high school students, who said, “Learning about store management and the ins and outs of business gave me an opportunity to think about my future.”

First Stage, a long-sleeved kimono specialty store and photo studio operated by First Stage Co., Ltd., will hold a class on practical store management at Mie Prefectural Yokkaichi Commercial High School on June 8, 2024, as part of its contribution to the local community. I did it. This class is held as part of Yokkaichi Commercial High School’s marketing class, and has the theme of “Growth Strategies for the Kimono Industry” and teaches students about business mechanisms and management perspectives. For the high school students, it was a valuable learning opportunity that provided them with an opportunity to think about their future by “understanding the world of business” beyond what they learned in textbooks.

Implemented as a corporate collaboration type “exploratory learning”

This initiative was made possible by First Stage, which was requested by a teacher in charge of marketing classes at Yokkaichi Commercial High School, with the idea of “helping local high school
students.” With the informationization and diversification of modern society, the skills required of high school students when they enter the workforce are also changing significantly. Based on the school’s desire to provide the third-year high school students who took this class with an opportunity for more practical social studies, the first corporate-linked “exploratory learning” program was realized. In class, through group work discussions, we learned “What kind of growth strategy is the kimono industry considering?”

Discussion about furisode marketing during group work
During the group discussion to discuss furisode marketing strategies, each group discussed several tips to deepen their thinking. When we were stuck, we received support from First Stage employees and teachers, and we had a valuable opportunity to think about marketing from the perspective of those who will soon be celebrating their coming-of-age ceremony.

*Participant reactions*
The students who participated in the class listened intently to information about company introductions, store opening strategies, and the use of questionnaire surveys. I think I was able to realize the connection between marketing classes and society, and actively engage in hypothesis formulation through group work.

Impressions from Yokkaichi Commercial High School
Thank you very much for coming to Yokkaichi Commercial High School this morning to teach the 3rd year elective class “Marketing”. I talked with the teachers who were also present, and all the students listened intently to the explanation about company introductions, store opening strategies, and the use of questionnaire surveys. They seemed to realize the connection between the marketing they were learning and society. I’m really glad that you came to First Stage. Thank you very much.
Comments from First Stage Co., Ltd. participating employees
I was able to directly talk to the students about the current state of the kimono industry and our marketing strategy, and I had a great time. We also realized how difficult it is to convey the current state of the kimono industry, such as yukatas and furisode, and to get them to think about it from the perspective of high school students, so this was a good opportunity for our company to rediscover the importance of how to communicate this to high school students.

Future initiatives and prospects
* 1. Strengthening collaboration with educational institutions* First Stage Co., Ltd. will continue to further strengthen its collaboration with local educational institutions and provide practical marketing classes. Upon request, we provide opportunities for students to acquire the skills and knowledge needed in society through on-site classes and workshops.

2. Expansion of inquiry learning
Through inquiry learning, students develop the ability to think for themselves and work on problem solving. This provides students with an opportunity to think concretely about their future careers.

3. Contributing to local communities
We consider contributing to the local community to be an important responsibility of a company, and we hope that young people in the local community will be interested in local industry and culture, and that they will play an active role in the local community in the future.
