APA Group acquires land for development of second hotel in front of “Morioka Station”
……
APA Group (Headquarters: 3-2-3 Akasaka, Minato-ku, Tokyo CEO Kazushi Motoya) has acquired land for hotel development in front of Morioka Station in Morioka City, Iwate Prefecture.
This project is conveniently located in front of JR Morioka Station, a 2-minute walk away. Morioka Station is served by six lines, including the JR Tohoku Shinkansen, and is positioned as an important station in northern Tohoku, connecting not only the prefecture but also neighboring Akita and Aomori prefectures. Additionally, Morioka City was ranked second in the New York Times’ “52 Places to Visit in 2023”, calling it “a gem of a city that can be reached on foot from Tokyo in a short amount of time,” avoiding the crowds. We hope to increase recognition both domestically and internationally, and will respond to the increasing demand for business, leisure, and lodging from foreign visitors to Japan.
In the area in front of Morioka Station, in addition to the APA Hotel – Morioka Ekimae – currently under construction (261 rooms in total), we have anticipated further demand for lodging, and have now acquired a second building. After opening, we will aim to mutually refer customers and improve operational efficiency. This project is planned to be a hotel with 176 rooms, and will have 437 rooms, including the hotel currently under construction. Details will be announced as soon as they are decided.

With this development land acquisition and franchise agreement, the directly managed store will have an additional 41 rooms, and the domestic franchise hotel will have an additional 135 rooms.
We will continue to strengthen the expansion of our APA hotel network in areas where demand is expected nationwide, using both direct management and franchise methods.
[APA Group]
It is the largest APA hotel network in Japan, with 841 hotels and 123,467 rooms (including hotels under construction and design, overseas, FC, and hotels directly affiliated with APA). Inheriting the “SUMMIT 5 (summit strategy)” that started in April 2010, we will launch a new five-year plan “AIM5 ~ APA Innovative Movement” in April 2022. We aim to develop 150,000 rooms as an APA hotel network by the end of March 2027, in order to become the overwhelmingly No. 1 hotel chain in Japan while capturing changing needs and the wave of DX in the post-corona era.
