*Let’s have fun learning about the ocean and the environment with quizzes* The Pal System Federation (Headquarters: Okubo, Shinjuku-ku, Chairman: Masakazu Dainobu) will be holding a “Teach Me! Sakana-kun” together with the Japan Fisheries Cooperative Federation (hereinafter referred to as “JF Zenryo Federation”) from 10:00 on Friday, August 2nd. The Sea, Environment, and Everyone’s Life “Let’s Eat Fish” Summer Vacation Talk Live” will be held at a hybrid venue and live streaming.
Enjoy your summer vacation with your family
Starting in April 2024, Pal System will be rolling out the sustainable action “Let’s Eat Fish” to support Japan’s fishing industry. As part of this effort, this time’s Beyond Talk (*) will feature a live talk by “Sakana-kun,” a member of the JF Zengyōren Fish Eating Promotion Committee and an honorary doctor of Tokyo University of Marine Science and Technology. While presenting quizzes and improvised illustrations related to fisheries, we will expand interest in fish and answer questions from children.

Japan’s fishing industry faces many challenges, including a lack of successors to fishermen and changes in fish species and catches due to climate change. If the unstable situation continues, there is a possibility that a day will come when Japan will not be able to eat fish.
According to the Fisheries Agency’s Fisheries White Paper, consumption of meat and fish exceeded meat for the first time in 2011, and the gap between them has continued to widen every year. In order to prevent children, who will be responsible for the next generation, from abandoning fish, it is first necessary to increase their interest in fish and the sea environment.

*PAL System is promoting the Sustainable Action “For a better tomorrow” As part of our “Go Beyond” initiative, we are holding “Go Beyond Talk” workshops on a wide range of topics, from useful content to daily life to social issues. The event will be held a total of 12 times by June 2024, with a total of more than 5,000 people
participating on a wide range of lifestyle themes such as “sustainable products,” “soap,” “tips for sharing housework,” and “let’s eat rice with spiced curry.” There was participation.
