The University of Tokyo, a national university corporation (Bunkyo-ku, Tokyo, President: Teruo Fujii, hereinafter referred to as the University of Tokyo) and Mitsubishi Estate Co., Ltd. (Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo, President and CEO: Atsushi Nakajima, hereinafter referred to as Mitsubishi Estate) announced on October 21, 2022 On the same day, we concluded an industry-academia collaboration agreement and launched “MEC-U Tokyo Lab” (hereinafter referred to as “our lab”). Continuing from last year, our laboratory will be holding a talk event called “Todai Week@Marunouchi,” as shown below, where you can experience the University of Tokyo’s cutting-edge knowledge while enjoying a drink at a cafe or restaurant in the Marunouchi area.

MEC-U Tokyo Lab is located in an area (hereinafter referred to as the “Honmaru Area”) that extends from Hongo, the main base of the University of Tokyo and a concentration of outstanding knowledge, to Otemachi, Marunouchi, and Yurakucho, where Mitsubishi Estate has been promoting urban development for over 130 years. Through collaboration between the University of Tokyo and companies clustered in the area, we will explore the ideal form of next-generation urban development, create new industries, and promote initiatives to solve social issues, thereby creating innovation and growth. We aim to evolve into a town.
