Last year, approximately 574 million yen was collected through the city’s Hometown Tax, the highest amount ever, as donations from many people to support Nara City. The amount of donations this year has already exceeded 79 million yen (as of June 28), 1.8 times more than the same period last year.
From October next year, it is planned to ban the solicitation of donations on portal sites that award points to users, but from now on, it will be more likely that donations will be chosen not only based on return gifts, but also based on how the donations will be used and the measures taken. It becomes important.
Nara City’s Hometown Tax Program already allows donors to choose how their donations will be used from 19 categories, including “Projects to preserve and utilize cultural assets,” “Projects to support single-parent families,” and “Projects that bring the excitement of art to daily life.” A major feature is that we are able to convey our thoughts into measures.
In the future, we will continue to use the thoughts of those who donated to support Nara City to support Nara City’s policies and citizens and organizations.

This year, in addition to outreach concerts, we will be holding invitations to concert venues. For the first time, households eligible for the food bank were invited to the “JNO Presents Recital Series Seiji Okamoto’s World 2024” produced by Kyohei Tanda, which was held at the Nara Centennial Hall in June. In order to prevent this from happening, we support TNR (Trap, Neuter, Return) activities, which involve spaying and neutering pets and watching over them as they live for only one generation.

▶Started the “Transfer Support Store System” as a new business in FY2020. Among Class 1 animal handling businesses, those who have dog or cat breeding facilities and who cooperate with the city’s adoption project are certified as “adoption support shops” and are allowed to take care of dogs and cats housed at public health centers.
