Purpose of the event
In April 2024, two logistics-related laws were revised, requiring shipper companies over a certain size to appoint a “Chief Logistics Officer (CLO).” As a result, the importance of CLOs as logistics leaders in management is rapidly increasing. The CLO’s role is extremely important, as they are required to formulate medium- to long-term plans and achieve two KPIs while being committed to management.
However, in Japan, the position of CLO has hardly existed until now, so companies are currently at a loss as to how to proceed. In fact, there are still very few companies in Japan that have established a CLO.
Hacobu, a logistics DX partner, has been advocating “making logistics a management agenda” together with leaders from various fields. This time, we will be holding a series of seminars to consider a new image of CLOs that solve social issues, “The role of CLOs explained through practical examples.” Kenji Sato, former General Logistics Manager at Walmart Japan and Hacobu Executive Officer CSO (Chief Strategy Officer), will invite guests who are active on the front lines to think about the true role of a CLO with the participants. .
In this first seminar, we will welcome Professor Hashimoto of Meiji University, who is involved in formulating roadmaps at the government level as a member of the Physical Internet Realization Council. He will explain the significance of CLOs that the government is seeking, and will discuss future logistics reforms. I will show you the path you are heading towards.
Furthermore, we will welcome Kazumi Hatatani, executive officer and SCM officer at J-Oil Mills Co., Ltd., as a guest, and he will share examples of his efforts to optimize logistics from a management perspective that transcends departments. He will also talk in detail about the challenge of creating new rules to secure the transportation of heavy oils and fats, as well as cooperation between companies to resolve the driver shortage.
The key to overcoming logistics crises such as the 2024 problem depends on the success of CLOs. Learn from our guests’ examples of the CLO image your company needs, and let’s take a step toward logistics reform together.
