(Representative Director: Eiji Sakai) produces, plans, and produces a variety of works while preserving tradition and continuing to take on new challenges in order to inherit world-class ukiyo-e. In collaboration with popular content such as Doraemon, Chibi Maruko-chan, Attack on Titan, the Marvel series represented by Star Wars and Spider-Man, and Godzilla, Banzo artists create and depict a mysterious and exquisitely matched world view. A number of
collaborative works have been very well received.
This time, Hansan has produced six Ukiyo-e works of the national anime “GeGeGe no Kitaro,” which can be said to be a part of Japanese culture and has been loved for 55 years. It has a high affinity with Ukiyo-e, and GeGeGe no Kitaro’s mysterious, mystical, and slightly creepy world view is an exquisite match with Ukiyo-e style
expressions. We carefully depict the essence of “Japanese” that is common to each of them.
Following the first of the six works in the GeGeGe Ukiyo-e series, “Akatsuki no Tomo” and the second, “The Deceased of Seifu,” this third installment is “Yokai Hyakumonogatari Kohada,” which is an homage to one of Katsushika Hokusai’s “Hyakumonogatari.” Kodairaji Chiki Tomo’ will be released from July 5th.
“GeGeGe Ukiyo-e Kaihyaku Monogatari Kohada Koheiji Tomomi Tomo” is a 6th season GeGeGe anime based on Katsushika Hokusai’s
“Hyakumonogatari Kohada Koheiji”, which is based on Koheiji (Koheiji) who appears in Edo ghost stories. A collaboration work with Kitaro. This is an illustration of Kitaro taking a nap under a mosquito net while Koheiji visits Medama Oyaji and looks inside the mosquito net. The ukiyo-e motif is reproduced as faithfully as possible while adjusting the expression of color and texture to match the world view of the GeGeGe no Kitaro character. Even though it is scary, it is a work that somehow makes you feel warm.
