With the theme of “Why can we eat delicious sea fish in Shiga, a prefecture without a sea?”, we will follow the “food journey” that led to sea fish being served on our dining tables in Shiga prefecture over a three-day trip. By learning through experience the methods, innovations, and challenges that bring fish from the sea to our dinner tables, we will foster a connection with the sea and a sense of respect for the sea.
Participants are 20 fifth graders from elementary schools in Shiga Prefecture who were selected by lottery from among the applicants. Over the course of three days, we will conduct field surveys in Otsu City, Kusatsu City, Shiga Prefecture, and Kihoku Town, Mie Prefecture, as part of the “Future Sea Protection Team.”
