For the first time in 50 years of painting, Susumu Matsushita’s character collaboration illustration is unveiled!
*7/6, Sticker giveaway at Hummel Partner Day of Gamba Osaka vs Yokohama FM* Danish sports brand hummel will be participating in the 2024 Meiji Yasuda J1 League, which will be played by Gamba Osaka on July 6th. Became title sponsor of Round 22 match against Yokohama F. Marinos and held Hummel Partner Day. We will be running a LINE campaign to give away a newly illustrated sticker “Captain SSK x Gamba Boy” drawn by Susumu Matsushita.

Gamba Osaka vs. will be held at Panasonic Stadium Suita on Saturday, July 6th. Hummel is the match partner for Yokohama F. Marinos. At Hummel Partner Day, the second of this season, we will hold a “LINE Registration Campaign” where you can receive limited Hummel x Gamba Osaka goods. From 15:00 to 19:00, if you show the friend registration screen at the Hummel booth in the Rot Well-being Park outside the stadium, you will receive either a sticker (first 5,000 people) or a keychain (first 3,000 people). I’ll give you a present.
The illustration for this sticker was drawn by Susumu Matsushita, a world-renowned illustrator. SSK Co., Ltd., which develops Hummel, is also known as SSK in baseball, and has adopted an illustration by Susumu Matsushita as its corporate character since 1987. In 1994, Captain SSK was born.
We asked Mr. Matsushita, the creator of Gamba Boy, to draw a collaborative illustration. Matsushita had no precedent for this kind of thing, and said, “Normally you wouldn’t be able to do something like this, so in a sense, the illustration was monumental.Both characters have a history, and I didn’t want one to stand out, so I didn’t do anything like that.” I have even redrawn it several times. I would be happy if more people could see it.” To commemorate the first collaborative illustration, Gamba Boy will also be visiting the Hummel booth.

*About Susumu Matsushita*
Born February 6, 1950 in Tokyo. He is known for the cover of the game information magazine “Famitsu”, illustrations of animal fortune telling, and mascot designs for the Japanese national soccer team and Gamba Osaka. It features unique American comic style illustrations using airbrush. In 2023, he will celebrate his 50th anniversary as a painter.

The Danish sports brand Hummel was born in 1923 and developed the world’s first spikes with studs.
