Izumisano City, Osaka Prefecture, is committed to the sustainable operation of Rinku General Medical Center, a local independent administrative agency (hereinafter referred to as Rinku General Medical Center), which is the only medical institution designated for specific infectious diseases*1 in Western Japan and whose
establishment is in Izumisano City. To this end, we have started soliciting donations through the corporate version of hometown tax*2. Through this initiative, we aim to prevent the spread of infectious diseases and improve the medical care delivery system in Japan.

The new coronavirus caused a pandemic around the world, with states of emergency being declared in many countries, but in May 2023, it was downgraded to the status of seasonal influenza. However, there is no guarantee that a pandemic caused by a new infectious disease will occur in the future, so it is essential to be prepared during normal times.

Rinku General Medical Center supports regional medical care as a regional core hospital, and as a designated medical institution for specified infectious diseases, provides appropriate medical care to patients with extremely high-risk infectious diseases, including Ebola hemorrhagic fever, and prevents imported infectious diseases. Additionally, because it is located across from Kansai International Airport, we also provide medical care to tourists and many foreigners living in Japan, and we are certified as a Medical Institution Accepting Foreign Patients (JMIP)*3. Furthermore, as an advanced acute care hospital responsible for policy medical care that should be provided in a wide area, such as the Senshu Emergency and Emergency Center, the Senshu Regional Maternal and Child Medical Center, the Disaster Base Hospital, and the Osaka Prefecture Cancer Base Hospital, we provide the medical care necessary to all people in Japan and overseas. On the other hand, hospitals continue to face financial difficulties due to revisions to medical fees and equipment renewal. In order to resolve these issues and continuously provide medical care to protect people’s lives and health, we have begun soliciting donations through the corporate version of hometown tax.
