Wheelchair Handball Japan will participate in the World Championship for the first time: Crowdfunding begins
*We are looking for support to overcome the lack of funds and aim for the top of the world! *
*
The Japan Wheelchair Handball Federation (Location: Tokushima Prefecture, Representative: Tadashi Handa), which aims to create a prosperous society where everyone can pursue their dreams, is seeking funds to participate in the Japan Wheelchair Handball National Team, which will participate in its first World Championship. For this reason, we are conducting crowdfunding. The recruitment period is until July 31, 2024, and the target amount is 4 million yen. * Click here for details on crowdfunding

* ■“We want to send Japan’s wheelchair handball representative to the world championship” Background of crowdfunding *
Currently, we are working on selecting and strengthening Japan’s national team players and staff, with the aim of participating in the world championships. However, our federation, which has until now focused primarily on domestic activities, lacks the financial strength to fully support the activities of the Japanese national team participating in international tournaments, and is unable to support domestic activities such as selection practice sessions and training sessions. Not only that, but our financial situation means that we are forced to ask each player to pay for their own expenses when sending them overseas. Therefore, we have decided to take on the challenge of crowdfunding in order to request support for the participation of the Japanese national team in the world championships and for the promotion of wheelchair handball as a para sport.
* ■Japan national team training camp held on June 22nd and 23rd* Over two days from June 22nd to 23rd, 2024, the first training camp for the Japanese wheelchair handball team was held at Nippon Fukushi University Mihama Campus in Aichi Prefecture.
At this training camp, we first shared the vision for the Japanese national team and the selection criteria in order to make the final selection of the Japanese national team to participate in the world championship.
Our vision includes the keyword “Handball Family,” and we are conscious of communicating a lot with the players and staff during the training camp so that each member at this training camp can become like a family that supports each other. I was seen there.
Participants include Knocku, who won last year’s national competition. In addition to Morooka and Ito from SC, Yasuda (LBH) and Yokoe (LBH) from the West region, as well as female players Oishi and Kikuchi, participated.

* ■JWHF Future Vision*
1. This will be the first international competition for the Japanese national team, but through the training camp, we will improve our individual skills and deepen our understanding of tactics, strengthen our team strength, and fight with all our might to win medals.

2.
During the tournament, the World Handball Federation (IHF) will broadcast information about the tournament to the world, and the activities of the Japanese national team will also be broadcast to the world. Of course, our federation will also communicate the activities of the Japanese national team through the “Activity Report” page of this site and SNS.
3. The participating athletes will continue to make further efforts to use their experience on the international stage to promote parasports in Japan and develop a cohesive society.
Four.
Through the experience of this international tournament, the Japan Wheelchair Handball Federation will continue to work hard towards our vision of “a prosperous society where everyone can pursue their dreams” and “a bright future.”
