TXP Medical collaborates with Suicide Prevention Promotion Center to Support Life to Build Self-Harm/Suicide Attempt Registry
In Japan, suicide has become a prominent social problem with over 20,000 cases per year (Reference: National Police Agency data) (https://www.npa.go.jp/safetylife/seianki/jisatsu/R06/R5jisatsunojoukyou.pdf), suicide is the leading cause of death, especially in the 10 to 29 year old age group. This issue is attracting international attention, and there are concerns about its impact on the productivity and creativity of society as a whole (Reference: Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare data)
https://www.mhlw.go.jp/content/r5hs-1-1-07.pdf).
In order to address this issue, JSCP (Suicide Prevention Promotion Center to Support Life) will operate a “Self-Injury/Suicide Attempt Registry” to register and collect information on patients transported to emergency medical institutions due to self-injury or suicide attempts. It started in the year. This registry aims to clarify the current state of self-harm and suicide attempts nationwide and the issues faced by each region, promote effective suicide prevention measures, and strengthen support for people who have self-harmed and attempted suicide.

TXP Medical Co., Ltd. (Representative Director and CEO: Tomohiro Sono, hereinafter referred to as TXP)
Medical) received an order from JSCP to update the
“Self-Injury/Suicide Attempt Registry” to register and accumulate information on patients transported to emergency medical institutions due to self-injury or suicide attempts. This project has been jointly operated by the Japanese Society of Emergency Medicine and JSCP since 2022, and currently 57 organizations are participating. In the future, we aim to have all 300 emergency and emergency centers across Japan participate.

JSCP promotes suicide countermeasures as “comprehensive support for living” in order to realize “a society in which no one is driven to suicide.” We aim to operate our business in an effective and efficient manner, always keeping in mind the field of suicide prevention, and play a leading role in the country’s comprehensive suicide prevention measures.

In this important social contribution project, TXP Medical will leverage its technological capabilities and track record to build an EDC system (*1). TXP
Medical’s EDC provides an efficient and low-burden system that overcomes the limitations of traditional registries.
This system has a function to cooperate with NEXT Stage ER, an emergency outpatient system provided by our company.
In addition to being able to import structured patient data registered in the ER into this EDC system, it is also possible to import information from the electronic medical record screen using OCR. This will significantly reduce the data entry burden on each facility and result in more patient data being entered into the registry. We hope that this system will improve the quality and comprehensiveness of data, and will improve the quality of future research related to suicide prevention. In the end, we are confident that the money will go back to supporting those who have self-harmed or attempted suicide.

* [Features of TXP Medical’s NEXT Stage EDC]*
Until now, traditional registries used in physician-led clinical research at many medical institutions have faced challenges such as cost, customizability, and speed of development. TXP
The EDC system developed by Medical is built on FileMaker and is designed to be user-friendly and quick for custom development. This system is equipped with features such as ease of item discrimination, a reminder function that prompts you to enter items after a certain amount of time has passed, and a function that digitizes examination data in electronic medical records using OCR. Furthermore, NEXT operates on electronic medical records.
It is also possible to automatically link some items using the Stage series and QR codes. This will reduce the work involved in registering the registry, resulting in faster case collection.

*1 [EDC (Electronic Date)
Capture) is a system in which the attending physician and staff electronically input the obtained clinical data directly into a terminal such as a PC. Researchers and secretariats can monitor and check data in real time.
