Katsuhiko Hibino x Kondo Saitama Arts Theater’s Public Discussion Series – Artistic Director Crosstalk “Meeting the Person of Your Dreams” – Vol.5 will be held in September!
*A public dialogue series in which Kondo, the artistic director of Saitama Arts Theater Saitama, welcomes “dream people” who are active in various genres as guests*
Kondo, the artistic director of Saitama Arts Theater, aims to create a theater where artists from different genres can meet, as well as diverse people and local people, and the theme is Crossing.

A public conversation series in which Kondo serves as the listener and welcomes guests who are active in various genres* -Artistic Director Crosstalk “Meeting the person of your dreams”-*
started last fall, and has so far welcomed film director Tetsu Maeda, radio personality Tomoko Chris, designer/artist Tomoe Shinohara, and translator/theater critic Kazuko Matsuoka as guests.

The guest for the 5th Artistic Director’s Crosstalk “Meeting the Person of Your Dreams” is Katsuhiko Hibino, an artist and president of Tokyo University of the Arts.*
. While studying at Tokyo University of the Arts, Hibino’s works using cardboard attracted a lot of attention, and her works that expand the realm of art have been highly praised internationally, including participating in the Venice Biennale. He also participated in the newly launched theater group “Company Grande” as a studio work instructor. We will take a closer look at Mr. Hibino, who continues to research and put into practice the idea that “art is the power to live.” About his creative activities.

* Katsuhiko Hibino (artist) *
Born in Gifu Prefecture in 1958. He began his career as a writer in the early 1980s when he was a student at Tokyo University of the Arts, and has attracted a lot of attention for expanding his field of expression by fusing social media and art activities. Since then, he has participated in the Sydney Biennale and the Venice Biennale, and has held solo and group exhibitions both domestically and
internationally, as well as a variety of activities that cross disciplines. We also continue to disseminate workshops and art projects that take advantage of the characteristics of local places. Currently Gifu Prefectural Museum of Art,
Director at Contemporary Art Museum, Kumamoto
, has been involved in education and research at his alma mater, Tokyo University of the Arts, since 1995, and has served as president since 2022.He launched the Art Future Research Institute, pursues further possibilities for art in the contemporary world, and collaborates with companies and local governments. We are actively collaborating and continue to research and put into practice the idea that “art is the power to live.”

* Kondo (choreographer/dancer/listener)*
In 1996, he founded the dance company “Condors”, where he is responsible for composition, choreography, and direction. Performances have been held in approximately 30 countries around the world. He has choreographed and appeared on NHK General TV’s “Salaryman NEO”, choreographed the NHK TV drama series “Teppan”, and choreographed the NHK taiga drama “Idaten”. He has been active in a variety of fields, including theater productions by Hideki Noda, movies, and TV commercials. They also contribute to society through dance, such as the “Condors’ Play Plan,” a performance in which children as young as 0 years old can participate, and the “Handles,” a dance team made up of people with disabilities. He is also a professor at Tama Art University and lecturer at the University of Tokyo, Rikkyo University, etc. Received the 4th Asahi Performing Arts Award, Shuji Terayama Award, the 67th Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology Award, and the 67th Yokohama Cultural Award. From 2022, he will be the artistic director of Saitama Arts Theater. Raised in Peru, Chile, and Argentina. Dog lover.
