“Social Change through Nature Positive” will be held (co-sponsored by the Natural Park Foundation, Keidanren Nature Conservation Council, and Ministry of the Environment).

The Nature Conservation Charter was established on June 5, 1974 as a guideline for citizens regarding nature conservation. During the period of high economic growth in the 1960s, natural destruction was becoming a problem across the country as coastal reclamation, forest road development, and deforestation progressed, and against this backdrop, nature conservation organizations and other private sectors gathered and held repeated discussions to promote conservation of nature. The Charter was established at a ceremony to declare the establishment of the Nature Conservation Charter, which was attended by Their Royal Highnesses the Crown Prince and Crown Princess (at the time).

The symposium will celebrate the 50th anniversary of its enactment, and based on the significance of the Nature Conservation Charter and its subsequent developments, we will look at future social changes to realize a nature-positive approach that prevents and restores biodiversity. .

A stone monument of the Nature Conservation Charter in Daisen-Oki National Park. This area is said to be the birthplace of the Nature Conservation Charter, as a proposal to establish a Nature Conservation Charter was adopted at the 8th National Park Convention held in Daisen-Oki National Park in 1966.

-Reference- About the Nature Conservation Society of Japan, a public interest incorporated foundation
One of the oldest nature conservation organizations in Japan, founded in 1951 with the aim of protecting nature and preserving biodiversity. Starting with nature conservation in Oze, where a dam project was underway, he continued to work in Yakushima, Ogasawara,
Shirakami-Sanchi, etc., laying the foundation for registration as a World Natural Heritage Site, and is still involved in efforts to protect fragile nature across Japan. We continue to engage in various activities. With the message of “Opening up tomorrow through the power of nature,” we aim to create a society where people and nature live together, and where everyone from babies to the elderly can live their lives with smiles, surrounded by beautiful and rich nature. It’s an NGO. From the mountains to the sea, we continue to research, protect, and utilize nature all over Japan.
