It’s been a big anniversary year, 30 years since the release of the album and the first performance in Japan. In commemoration of this, a grand exhibition will be held to unravel the charm of the songs they left behind, which will never fade, and their unique existence from multiple perspectives.

What is an oasis for you?
This exhibition, which marks the first time in 10 years, will display many valuable items that we were unable to introduce last time, including their favorite instruments, handwritten lyrics, and iconic original posters from the band’s early days. Tracing the cultural background of his hometown of Manchester, he explores how a
generational rock and roll superstar was born. It will feature a photo spot that recreates the album’s artwork, a space where you can experience their live performances that you can’t experience today, and more, allowing you to delve deeper into the charm of the rare band Oasis along with their famous songs.
The band’s new logo commemorating their 30th anniversary was created by Kosuke Kawamura, an artist active both in Japan and overseas. This is the band’s first time using a Japanese artist.

“I first heard Oasis on a cassette tape made by a friend when I was in high school.Even though it was a type of music I had never heard before, it somehow struck a chord with me. I think all of the works I create, including the visuals, are cool, and I am still inspired by them.So, I was genuinely happy when I was asked to design a new logo, but it has only been 30 years since my debut. There was also a sense of nervousness about adding a new image to the band that we have cultivated over the years.The logo we created while keeping both of those sensibilities in balance is now a combination of two of the band’s logos. This is my subjective wish as a fan, that the band, which has fallen apart, will come back together after the past 30 years.”
Lyricist and composer Noel Gallagher boasts of “Live Forever” as a “timeless masterpiece” and “the most important song to me.” This exhibition is titled. Tickets are scheduled to go on sale in early September.
Coincidentally, today marks exactly 15 years since Oasis held their last performance in Japan (@Fuji Rock Festival ’09) on July 24, 2009. A playlist of the set list for the same performance is available on various streaming services starting today.

Representative works include Katsuhiro Otomo’s first large-scale original art exhibition “Katsuhiro Otomo GENGA Exhibition” (2012), main visual production and collage work using AKIRA “AKIRA ART WALL PROJECT” presentation (2019), solo exhibition “TRY SOMETHING BETTER” (2021) and more. Currently, he is active in graphic work for apparel brands, jackets, book bindings, advertising designs, and art direction. In 2021, he became UT’s creative director.
