On Friday, October 18, 2020, at the Takatsuki Castle Park Arts and Culture Theater, 20th century master choreographer Maurice Béjart created the Tokyo Ballet based on the Kabuki play “Kanadehon Chushingura” 38 years ago. Original work. This is a story about a modern-day young man who travels back in time to the world of Chushingura and becomes the samurai Yuranosuke to avenge his master. Japan’s world-famous traditional performing arts and spiritual culture of “Kabuki” and “Bushido” have been exquisitely expressed using the Western European method of ballet, and since its premiere, it has been performed at venues such as the Paris Opera, the Vienna State Opera, and La Scala in Milan. It has been performed 206 times in 28 cities in 15 countries around the world, including at famous opera houses, and has received acclaim.
