*Would you like to learn about the history of opera with Mr. Blue Island at the New National Theatre? *
The New National Theater is holding a lecture event inviting Mr. Hiroshi Aoshima, who is well known for his work on “Blue Island Sensei.” This year’s theme is * “History of Opera” *
[6 times in total].
The history of music from Baroque to modern times is divided into six blocks, and there will be explanations about the composers of the eras covered through fun and unique talks by Professor Blue Island and wonderful piano performances, as well as singing performances by guest singers. Masu.

Anyone can participate, from those making their opera debut to opera enthusiasts. We hope that you will take this opportunity to deepen your knowledge of opera composers and use it for your future opera appreciation.

◆Performers
* AOSHIMA Hiroshi*
Born in Tokyo in 1955. He completed his master’s program at Tokyo University of the Arts and its graduate school at the top of his class, and his completed work, the opera “Golden Country” (original work by Shusaku Endo), was purchased by the University Library, and will be the last performance sponsored by the Tokyo Metropolitan Arts Festival. As a composer, he has written “The Phoenix” (original story: Osamu Tezuka), “Black Lizard” (original story: Yukio Mishima), the orchestral piece “Then Peter and the Wolf”, the choral piece “Mother Goose’s Song”, and the musical “11 Piki”. He has produced over 300 pieces, including “No Neko,” and has been active as a pianist and conductor for over 50 years, producing many concerts and events.
He served as the first director of NHK’s “Joyful Concert” for 8 years, and currently appears regularly on NHK Radio’s “Minna no Chorus” and “High School Music Course.” He is also an advisor for TV Asahi’s “Untitled Concert” and Nippon Television’s “World’s Most Popular.” Appeared on TV Tokyo’s “Takeshi’s Picasso”, “Solomon’s Style”, and TBS Radio’s “Children’s Telephone Consultation Room”. He has also published many related works. Former lecturer at Tokyo University of the Arts, visiting professor at Senzoku Gakuen College of Music, member of Japan Contemporary Music Association, Composers Council, and Tokyo Chamber Opera House.

New National Theater
The New National Theater was established in 1997 as Japan’s only national theater for the contemporary performing arts of opera, ballet, dance, and theater.
It opened in the fall of 2018. It has three distinctive theaters: the Opera Palace, the Medium Theater, and the Small Theater, and hosts approximately 250 performances annually.
Kazushi Ohno, a world-renowned conductor, was appointed artistic director of the opera department in September 2018, and in addition to presenting approximately 10 opera performances a year at a level comparable to the world’s major opera houses, we also offer opera viewing opportunities for high school students. We are holding classes, etc.
Nurturing the next generation of artists is one of the major pillars of the New National Theatre’s business, and the theater has three training centers for opera, ballet, and drama, and provides
comprehensive training.
