Otemon Gakuin University (abbreviation: Oita University, Ibaraki City, Osaka Prefecture, President: Masahiro Shindo), which has promoted education and research as a higher education institution with academic fields in the humanities and social sciences, will be a science and engineering university in April 2025. Taking the initiative to establish a new department (tentative name, approval pending) as an opportunity, the Center for the Promotion of Co-Creative Research will systematically promote the further creation of co-creative research such as interdisciplinary and fusion of humanities and sciences, as well as the acceleration of the social implementation of research results. was newly established in August.
This center utilizes the co-creative research grant system for themes such as 1. Interdisciplinary/integrated research, 2. Research in collaboration with companies, universities, and government, 3. Research in collaboration with overseas countries, and 4. Start-up of venture businesses. We aim to accelerate the promotion of co-creative research results and social implementation as a hub for the Hokusetsu region by collaborating with external organizations and providing organizational support for research public relations.
Based on a long-term vision, our university aims to stabilize its management base while promoting the improvement of its educational and research capabilities.As a comprehensive university that handles academic fields spanning the arts and sciences, our university is a source of innovation where diverse values and different cultures come together. We have undertaken a variety of initiatives to become an educational and research institution that continues to produce results. In 2019, we will establish a major in Information Systems in the Faculty of Business Administration, in 2021 we will establish a major in Artificial Intelligence and Cognitive Science in the Faculty of Psychology, and in 2022 we will establish a major in Aesthetics and Architectural Culture in the Faculty of Letters, creating a diverse range of learning that transcends disciplines. In 2025, we aim to establish the Faculty of Science and Engineering (tentative name, approval pending), which will be our first science faculty.
By adding specialized fields of science and engineering to the education and research that we have cultivated as a comprehensive university centered on the humanities and social sciences, we aim to further strengthen interdisciplinary research across the university and implement research results into society. We will continue to make further efforts to contribute to society and develop human resources who can play an active role in the next generation.
