* ■Sanrio Special Parade to be held*
Hello Kitty and her friends will be coming to Kodomo ga Naka Festa to be held on October 13th (Sunday).
Imabari City has been focusing on child-rearing support initiatives under the slogan of “Imabari, a friendly town where children shine at the center” and received the “Japan Child-rearing Support Award” in July of this year. “Kodomo ga Middle Festa” is a play and learning event that will bring smiles to children’s faces, with the catchphrase “A future created by expanding smiles” and held throughout the central city of Imabari.
The special parade will depart for Hirokoji after an opening ceremony at the plaza in front of the Minato Exchange Center at Imabari Port. Local characters and dance teams will also be participating in the parade.
In order to make children’s wishes come true, the characters who will come to play will be determined by conducting a survey among elementary school students in the city in September. Furthermore, this Sanrio Special Parade will feature songs and choreography that will be unveiled for the first time.
After the parade, there will be a greeting event where you can take commemorative photos with Hello Kitty and others at nearby event venues. At the “Setouchi Minato Marche” held on the same day, Sanrio Cafe Wagon, a mobile sales vehicle of Sanrio Co., Ltd., will also be opening a store.

In March of this year, Imabari City made the “Imabari City SDGs Declaration” in order to aim for sustainable urban development as a “city of choice,” “a town where people want to continue living,” and “a town they want to return to.” We are promoting awareness-raising activities to make more citizens aware of the SDGs, and to encourage them to think about and act on the SDGs as their own.
This time, we will hold a “Character Show to Learn SDGs” featuring Sanrio characters to help children who will be responsible for future city development learn about SDGs. Hello Kitty, who is working with the United Nations to promote the SDGs globally, will introduce Imabari City’s initiatives related to the SDGs, and children will have fun learning about the SDGs through songs, dance, quizzes, and more. He will put on a show.
Furthermore, this time, Cinnamoroll, who won first place in Sanrio’s Character Awards for five consecutive years, will appear as a special guest. They will liven up the stage together.
Entries will be drawn by lottery to view the “Character Show to Learn SDGs”. Information on how to apply will be posted on the city’s website after September.
