Seminar held: The future of smart mobility and opportunities for Sino-Japanese collaboration
*Sponsored by the Suzhou Tomiyoshi Japan Center, which our company (Constance Co., Ltd.) is involved in as a contract operator, we will be holding the “Future of Smart Mobility and Sino-Japanese
Collaboration Opportunity” event in Tokyo as described below! * Flyer for the seminar to be held on the afternoon of August 27th (1/2) * Why “smart mobility”? *
* It is no exaggeration to say that autonomous driving, which is representative of smart mobility, is the field that is currently attracting the most attention. *
In Japan, this is being promoted primarily through collaboration between industry, academia, and government. It is predicted that autonomous driving will have a significant impact on our lives in the future.
Autonomous driving is expected to move to Level 4 (highly automated driving) and Level 5 (fully automated driving) over the next few decades. *
Advances in communication between self-driving cars (V2V) and collaboration with transportation infrastructure (V2X) have the potential to significantly reduce accidents. *
In addition, as AI technology and machine learning algorithms that form the basis of autonomous driving continue to evolve, and sensor technology and real-time data processing capabilities improve, * In particular, it will make it easier for elderly people and people with disabilities to move around, which will help alleviate concerns and inconveniences in Japan and China, where populations are aging. *
Furthermore, with the spread of self-driving cars, urban planning and infrastructure design will change significantly. *
For example, reduced demand for parking, increased reuse of public spaces, and more sophisticated traffic management will reduce congestion in cities. *
More than 600 robot buses, robot taxis, unmanned logistics vehicles, unmanned cleaning vehicles, etc. are being operated on a daily basis on public roads in Xiangcheng District, Suzhou City.
* In China, the speed of application development and infrastructure development of IT technology for autonomous driving is fast, and in conjunction with the introduction of 5G networks, autonomous driving technology is becoming more popular. *
In July 2024, 20 cities including Beijing, Shanghai, Shenzhen, and Suzhou will be designated as test cities for driverless driving. ” experiments on public roads will continue in the future. *
*Suzhou City’s Xiangcheng District has been focusing on the
development of the smart mobility industry for about six years, particularly supporting the practical implementation of intelligent car networks. *
A total of 328 related companies are concentrated in the district, and related sales in 2023 reached 57.4 billion yuan (approximately 1.2 trillion yen).
This includes 14 unicorn companies. Momenta, a unicorn company, also collaborates with major Japanese car manufacturers such as Toyota. Additionally, Nissan Mobility Services, a group company of Nissan Motor Co., Ltd., has expanded to Aijo Ward and is conducting Level 4 class autonomous driving experiments.
This seminar will welcome two lecturers and provide the latest information on China, where smart mobility is being put into practical use, with a focus on the rapid development of autonomous driving.* Two lectures will provide hints on how Japanese companies can take advantage of these environmental changes. *
