* -About “Takashi Murakami Mononoke Kyoto”-*
* Takashi Murakami’s new and first-ever works that confront “Kyoto” head on are appearing one after another! *
Murakami, who majored in Japanese painting at university, was greatly influenced by the painters of the Edo period, and has incorporated them into his own work. It is no exaggeration to say that this is not only the origin of Superflat, but also the production methods and the Kaikai Kiki workshop system. In this exhibition, Murakami uniquely interprets, quotes, and reconstructs the representative works of painters who were active mainly in Kyoto during the Edo period, and displays many new works and works shown for the first time in Japan. Takashi Murakami comes to Kyoto!
