The soil in the Iga region was originally part of the Old Biwa Lake layer, so the nutrient-rich soil from the abundance of plants at the bottom of the lake and the mineral-rich water from the source of the Yodogawa River make it an ideal area for rice cultivation. is. Furthermore, due to the inland climate unique to the basin, which is surrounded by mountains on all sides, there is a large temperature difference between day and night, which makes it easy for starch to accumulate in the paddy, resulting in delicious rice.
