JTOWER Co., Ltd. (President: Tanaka), which operates a communication equipment sharing business.
Atsushi (Headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo) would like to inform you of the indoor infrastructure sharing solution implementation results as of June 2024.
As of June 2024, the cumulative number of installed properties (4G/5G, domestic) was 589 (124% compared to the same period last year).
* [Commentary] Shigeyoshi Yamamoto, Executive Officer, General Manager of Sales, JTOWER Co., Ltd.*
During the period from April to June 2024, implementation continued to progress in commercial facilities, complex facilities, office buildings, medical facilities, etc. A typical introduction facility is LaLa
Arena TOKYO-BAY (Arena, Funabashi City, Chiba Prefecture) is an example. Looking to the future, it is expected that mobile carriers will increasingly replace indoor communication equipment installed in existing buildings with shared equipment provided by JTOWER. Among the unique indoor communication equipment installed by mobile carriers, there are regular occurrences where the need for equipment renewal increases after a certain period of operation has passed. By switching to using shared equipment provided by JTOWER at the time of renewal, we will further expand the use of infrastructure sharing. By implementing replacement, mobile carriers can reduce the investment burden and operational costs associated with installing equipment. On June 19, 2024, we reached an agreement with NTT Docomo to replace the equipment with shared equipment, and on July 22, 2024, we entered into a joint study with KDDI aimed at building sustainable
infrastructure in a society with a declining population. We have announced that we will also consider replacement, and we expect further expansion of replacement in the future.

JTOWER began commercial services for indoor infrastructure sharing solutions in 2014, and has since been successfully used in a wide range of facilities, including commercial facilities, office buildings, hospitals, government facilities, logistics facilities, arenas and exhibition halls, etc. We have increased the number of properties introducing this technology. In 2020, we completed the development of shared equipment compatible with 5G, and are
strengthening our system by going into full-scale implementation. As a pioneer in infrastructure sharing, we will continue to make the most of the technology and knowledge we have cultivated in the communications field and contribute to the digitalization of society.
* [What is infrastructure sharing] *
Infrastructure sharing makes it possible to share the network equipment that was previously maintained by each mobile carrier. Compared to mobile carriers carrying out maintenance alone, the cost of equipment, operation, and maintenance can be reduced, resulting in more efficient network maintenance. Furthermore, it can reduce power consumption, materials, and number of construction tasks, which leads to a reduction in environmental impact.
* [About indoor infrastructure sharing solutions] * Total floor area of 10,000 square meters
In large buildings that exceed 1,000 yen, there is a high need to improve the indoor mobile signal environment. By utilizing
infrastructure sharing to improve indoor communication environments, real estate companies can save space, reduce electricity costs, and have a single point of contact. For mobile carriers, it can reduce capital investment and operational costs, and improve mobile phone users. For customers, it can provide benefits such as increased satisfaction through improved communication environments.
