All first-year students in the Department of International Culture at Kyushu Sangyo University can now use the English learning platform “Recipe” for free.
*In response to the increasing demand for English proficiency due to the increase in the number of foreign tourists visiting Japan* Polyglots Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo, Representative Director: Yamaguchi) provides an English learning platform “Recipe” optimized for each individual using generative AI.
Hayaya (hereinafter referred to as the “Company”) collaborated with Kyushu Sangyo University to make “Recipes” available to all first-year students in the Department of International Studies for free.
* Background to the introduction of free usage *
The reason behind the introduction is the dramatic increase in the number of foreign tourists visiting Japan, driven by the recent depreciation of the yen. According to research by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism, the number of people entering Kyushu in April this year was the highest ever.
In Fukuoka Prefecture in particular, we are focusing on efforts to increase the number of foreign tourists, such as recruiting “inbound cooperation stores.” These administrative efforts have been
successful, and according to a survey by the Japan Tourism Agency, the number of foreign overnight guests in Fukuoka Prefecture last year was approximately 112% compared to 2019, making it the fourth-largest city after Tokyo, Kochi Prefecture, and Tochigi Prefecture. It has an elongated width.
Due to this rapid increase in the number of foreign tourists, the number of jobs that require English has increased dramatically. For example, the most typical examples are service industries such as apparel and food and beverages. At these locally-based stores, English was rarely needed, but now English is used on a daily basis. In order to quickly respond to these changes in the business and employment environment, and to further strengthen the practical English education that Kyushu Sangyo University has been putting effort into, our “Recipes” are available free of charge to all first-year students in the Department of International Studies. We have decided to provide it.
* What is the AI English learning platform “Recipe” *
“Recipe” is an English learning app for smartphones that uses AI to generate a learning curriculum optimized for each learner, allowing them to achieve the best results in the shortest period of time. Currently, 2 million people are learning English with “Recipes”. After analyzing the learning data of these 2 million people using AI, we create a daily learning curriculum that is individually optimized based on the learners’ English skills, skills they want to improve, and their daily study time. ” will be automatically generated by AI.

* Biography of Representative Director Hayaya Yamaguchi *
Graduated from Kyushu University, Department of Nuclear Engineering. While in school, researched decontamination simulation using big data. As CTO (Chief Technology Officer) at Ipros, a subsidiary of Keyence, he launched a big data-related service. I started studying English in earnest in order to acquire the English skills to read the latest technical literature written in English. As I struggled with English again, I encountered things like, “The gut theory that if you just listen to English, you’ll be able to do anything”, “boring and uniform learning materials”, “expensive individualized instruction that only elite employees of large companies can afford”, etc. I became acutely aware of various problems in English education in Japan. “I want to use the power of technology to provide the best English learning environment, optimized for each individual, at an affordable price,” he said when he founded Polyglots.
