Ranking of horror manga that’s so scary you can’t sleep [Survey survey of 100 people]
Entertainment information web magazine “TV Maga” (https://saru.co.jp/tvmaga/ WonderSpace Co., Ltd., which operates ), conducted a web survey regarding manga. We will publish the results.
Horror manga that you want to read every summer. Not only ghosts, monsters, and other strange things, but also things like stalkers that would be scary if you were around. There are many horror works that depict various types of fear, but which one was so scary that it made you unable to sleep?
In this article, we will present the results of a survey of 100 people about “horror manga that is so scary that you won’t be able to sleep” and the reasons for choosing them, in a ranking format.
* 1st place: Higanjima *
The first place is “Higanjima”. Koji Matsumoto’s masterpiece. A survival horror manga serialized in Weekly Young Magazine from 2002 to 2010. The main character is Akira Miyamoto, a high school student who searches for his missing brother. Akira and his friends embark on Higanjima, a solitary island in the distant sea, and engage in a deadly battle against the vampires who rule the island.

* 2nd place: Searching for the body *
2nd place is “Searching for the body”. Katsutoshi Murase adapted Welzard’s original novel into a comic. A school horror manga that has been serialized in Shonen Jump+ since 2014. The film depicts a life-threatening game of tag between high school students who are forced to participate in a “body search” by the murderer “Red Person” after a murder that occurred 50 years ago.

* 3rd place: Hell Teacher Nube *
3rd place goes to “Hell Teacher Nube”. A representative work by both the original author, Sho Makura, and the manga author, Tsuyoshi Okano. Serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump from 1993 to 1999. The main character is Meisuke Nueno, an elementary school teacher and self-proclaimed psychic who is affectionately known as Nube. Nueno uses his demon hands to confront the monsters and evil spirits that engulf children.

* 4th place: Higurashi When They Cry *
4th place is “Higurashi no Naku Koro ni”. Since 2006, “Higurashi no Naku Koro ni” has been published in “Gangan Powered”, “Monthly Gangan WING”, etc.
Manga versions such as “Onikakushi-hen” and “Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Watanagashi-hen” have been serialized one after another. A series of mysteries depicting a series of mysterious deaths and disappearances that occur in a traditional village.

The story depicts how a creepy giantess, Sachiko, persistently follows her around and pushes her to the breaking point.

* 4th place: Tomie *
4th place is “Tomie”. Junji Ito’s masterpiece. It has been serialized in Monthly Halloween and Nemuki since 1987. The main character is Tomie Kawakami, a beautiful girl who fascinates men. The men who were captivated by Tomie gradually developed murderous intentions towards her, and eventually killed her. However, the story depicts the fear and confusion caused by Tomie, who reappears no matter how many times she becomes a victim of murder.

4th place is “Henn na Ie”. The original work is Amena’s debut novel and masterpiece. Akira Ayano has created a comic called “comic”. HOWL” has been serialized since 2023. A real estate mystery in which the main character, a writer specializing in the occult, investigates incidents hidden in a mysterious floor plan.
