“Sake never ends” Yamamoto, a long-established sake brewery founded in 1909, and six up-and-coming artists will hold a limited-time collaboration project.
*Artistic products released by Yamamoto Sake Brewery in Happo Town, Akita Prefecture, and 6 creators who are extremely popular among young people mainly on SNS*
Ueni Trading Co., Ltd. (President:
Mitsuki Miyakami) is a series project called “RE:SPECTACLES” that shows traditional Japanese culture from a new perspective through creations by up-and-coming artists.
The first event will be held from August 21, 2024 at Daimaru Matsuzakaya Department Stores in Nagoya, Osaka, and Tokyo.
By fusing “Yamamoto”, a Junmai Ginjo produced by Yamamoto Sake Brewery in Happo-cho, Akita Prefecture, with artwork created with the theme of “NEO:SAKE“, a new style of Japanese sake taste, we will address the issue of the lack of interest in Japanese sake among young people. We offer a new way to enjoy with a unique approach.

* How a completely new Japanese sake taste style “NEO:SAKE” was established* Sake consumption has continued to decline since peaking at 1.77 million kl in 1973, and has now fallen to less than a quarter. “RE:SPECTACLES”, co-sponsored by Ueni Trading Co., Ltd. and creative studio R11R, has launched the “NEO:SAKE” project with Yamamoto Sake Brewery as its first step in order to solve these social issues. We have developed original products with the statement “Sake never ends.” * “NEO:SAKE” charms you with the power of creation and art * Traditionally, sake bottles have been colored green or brown, but the “NEO:SAKE” series uses clear colors that are reminiscent of the clarity and coolness of sake.
In addition, this change in the bottle also reflects the desire for customers to enjoy the taste before it deteriorates.
For the first time, six creators with a total of approximately 1.32 million followers on social media created artwork and incorporated it into a completely original bottle and package design.
Another feature of the “NEO: SAKE” series is that it has been renovated as a highly designed art bottle, and can be enjoyed as an interior decoration after drinking.
In addition, Emi Shinozaki of “edenworks” created the flowers for this image visual.
We expressed the idea that not only can you enjoy Yamamoto Sake Brewery’s sake from a new perspective, but also that you can enjoy it as a wonderful interior decoration by reusing it as a flower vase or herbarium after drinking.

About Yamamoto Sake Brewery
Yamamoto Sake Brewery was founded in 1901 in Hachimori Village (now Happo Town), a fishing village on the Sea of Japan coast famous for Akita’s prefectural fish, sandfish fishing.
Affectionately known as “Shirataki,” in the early 1960s, Daiginjo was the first in the country to commercialize Daiginjo sake, which was offered to restaurants in Tokyo and Kobe and was well received. Since 2010, we have abolished Honjozo and Daiginjo, which require the addition of brewed alcohol, and have become Junmai Brewery, which only produces Junmai, Junmai Ginjo, and Junmai Daiginjo.
In addition to cultivating and polishing sake rice in-house, we also cultivate yeast in-house to produce high-value-added sake, and in 2023 we will open LABO, a cafe with a brewery attached.
and CAFE YAMAMOTO, a renovated old folk house that will be rented in 2024. Yamamoto opened and is now entertaining sake lovers visiting from Japan and abroad.
