4th New Tableware Exhibition

■What is “New Tableware Exhibition”?
The “New Tableware Exhibition”, which will be held for the fourth time in 2024 and sponsored by Fujimaki Department Store, is based on the theme of “Edo Kiriko that enriches daily life”.
This is a contest to create new Edo Kiriko items that add color to everyday life, such as rocks glasses, tumblers, sake cups, and plates. From traditional craftsmen to young craftsmen, we have a collection of works that have been carved out with all their heart.

There are three types of screening: (1) online voting/real voting by customers, (2) screening by Edo Kiriko craftsmen, and (3) screening by Fujimaki Department Store buyers. These will be judged comprehensively and the best new tableware for each class will be decided!
*Through this contest, we aim to “improve the skills of craftsmen,” “challenge innovative Edo Kiriko,” and “realize a lifestyle with Edo Kiriko in our daily lives.”*
. Please support the latest creations created by our craftsmen with all their heart and soul, with the aim of “coloring everyone’s dining table and bringing wonderful smiles and blissful moments.”

■About online voting for “New Tableware Exhibition”
* Three new entry classes have been added this year*. We divide the products into classes according to the sales price (excluding tax) after the contest ends. *
Each person can vote once for each entry class. *

▼Three entry classes
1. * “Rich” rich class *: ~ Less than 40,000 yen
2. * “Premium” premium class *: 40,000 yen to less than 60,000 yen 3. *Gorgeous class*: 60,000 yen to less than 100,000 yen

In the world of Edo Kiriko, value (price) is set based on various factors such as the number of cuts, technique, difficulty, accuracy, idea, type of glass material, size, brand, etc.
However, these standards are difficult for general customers to understand, and many people are confused when purchasing one. Therefore, this class division was introduced this year. The customer* This is a challenging attempt* to ensure that Edo Kiriko is evaluated fairly, taking into account the individual value and usage scenarios of Edo Kiriko.
When judging, we hope that you will be able to imagine the differences between each class, how the craftsmen put their heart and soul into making the Edo Kiriko, and what it will be like when the customer actually holds the Edo Kiriko in their hands. .

■What is Edo Kiriko?
Edo Kiriko began in 1834 in the late Edo period. The technique that remains today was established in the 14th year of the Meiji era. Since then, it has undergone advanced development in the city of Edo, and traditional patterns such as Nanako, Chrysanthemum Tsunagi, and Hexagonal Kagome were created. “Edo Kiriko” is the name of a traditional craft designated by the country, and there are four clear definitions. It must be made of glass, it must be made by hand, it must use rotating tools to make it, and it must be produced in a designated area. Only those that meet these standards can be called genuine “Edo Kiriko.” Nowadays, some artists switch materials, such as soda glass and crystal glass, to express their individuality and worldview. It is also attractive that it continues to evolve while following history and tradition.
