Orix Hotel Management Co., Ltd. has identified coexistence with the local community as one of its key sustainability activities, and is working to discover and create new tourism resources by collaborating with local companies and local governments, and by utilizing the resources of the Orix Group. Here we come. In order to create a future in which people can still enjoy traveling 100 years from 2024, we have started the “Tsunagu Developing Tourism Project” as an action that will lead to sustainable tourism that we can take now.
As part of this effort, we collect plastic waste from hotels and waste thrown into the ocean, and use REMARE Co., Ltd.’s material recycling technology, which can mold boards from different plastic materials, to produce common boards at five facilities. I did. CROSS is a project jointly conducted by 5 hotels: 3 Cross Hotels and 2 Cross Life Hotels. for the BLUE”, we will create highly artistic one-of-a-kind clocks that match the characteristics of each facility and display them in the public spaces of each facility.
The theme of this project is “Let’s protect the richness of the ocean,” which is one of the goals of SDGs 17, and we collected waste with the cooperation of Kyoto Aquarium and Sumida Aquarium, which are operated by Orix Hotel Management Co., Ltd. Ta.

*About upcycled watches*
We created an upcycled watch by using the large amount of plastic waste generated by hotels and combining it with ocean-related waste.

* Upcycled clocks at each facility *
The collected garbage is collected at the upcycle brand REMALE Co., Ltd., where it is all crushed, melted, and molded to produce boards that retain the nuances of the materials. This board material was processed into a custom-made clock.

* Cross Hotel Sapporo *: A wall clock with red accents that matches the back wall is installed in the 2nd floor lobby.
*Cross Hotel Kyoto*: A table clock with wooden hands is installed in the lobby to match the wood-based interior.
*Cross Hotel Osaka*: A table clock with red hands, which is often used in interior design, is installed at the concierge desk.
*Cross Life Hakata Tenjin*: Accented with the brand color yellow, the surface is textured to create shadows.
