The web magazine “Seishun Online” operated by Seishun Publishing (Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo) will be publishing a new series “Everyone is asleep” from August 20, 2024 (Tuesday). It has started. *

Ban Ohara is a writer born in 1996. His first self-produced essay collection in 2022, “Please don’t eat fried chicken bento here” (first edition of 200 copies), has been sold at independent bookstores and has been well received in various places. It has been reprinted and reprinted, and in two years since its release, it has been printed 19 times and has sold over 10,000 copies!
It became a hit.
In 2023, we launched our first commercial publication, “Is This Life?” (Yamato Shobo), which has received a great response from bookstore clerks and bookworms alike, and has published not only essays but also short stories in literary magazines. Published in “Novel Subaru” (Shueisha) and “Spin” (Kawade Shobo Shinsha). Furthermore, he is a writer who is like a shining new star, currently having essays and one-shot novels serialized in four web media.
The theme of this new series is “night.”
When you have trouble falling asleep at night, many people may tend to worry, thinking, “I have to go to bed early,” or remembering things like “That person said that to me.”
However, Mr. Obara says that he sometimes feels a special sense of comfort at night. This is because when most people are asleep, you can enjoy the pure solitude and warmth of loneliness. For example, watch the Late Show. Go to a bento shop that is open 24 hours. Go for an evening walk. If you ask me, you’ll find a deep sense of joy that can only be found at night.
Mr. Ohara will be writing about the various “nights” he has spent so far (or would like to spend in the future). The update frequency is leisurely [once every two months], and new works are uploaded on full moon nights. Please look forward to it!
