We supported efforts to obtain additional “Emergency Patient Collaborative Transport Fee”.
* ■Background and aim of introducing “WanKone” at Kitasato University Medical Center*
As Japan enters a super-aging society, there is expected to be a shortage of medical personnel due to an increase in the labor burden in the medical and welfare industries, and the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare is working on medical DX* to improve the health of the people and provide high-quality medical care. 1 efforts are now underway. By helping to promote medical DX, WanKone supports the medical and welfare industry from the perspective of improving labor productivity and leads to a fundamental solution to the shortage of medical and welfare services. We are aiming for
We have recently started providing WanKone to Kitasato University Medical Center (KMC), a designated secondary emergency hospital that plays a central role in regional medical care in the Saitama Prefectural Central Medical Area. Deputy director of the emergency department working at KMC
Mr. Satoshi Tamura, an emergency specialist and neurosurgeon, commented on the new evaluation item “Emergency patient collaborative transportation fee” that was newly established in the “Reiwa 6 Medical Fee Revision*2”.
*3) With the establishment of “Saitama Prefecture Central District Orthopedic Patient Regional Collaborative Transport Project,” the “Saitama Prefecture Central District Orthopedic Patient Regional Collaborative Transport Project” has been launched and is being promoted, with the aim of obtaining evaluation bonuses and solving emergency medical problems by strengthening regional medical cooperation.
In the process of promoting this project, we were considering strengthening cooperation and increasing efficiency in emergency transportation among local affiliated hospitals (Konosu Kyosei Hospital, Saitama Prefectural Central Hospital, and Tosenen Kitamoto Hospital), and we were looking into ways to improve the efficiency of emergency transportation. As a first step, the “WanKone” system was introduced.

* ■Comments*
*Mr. Satoshi Tamura, Deputy Director of Emergency Department, Kitasato University Medical Center*
“As each medical institution has its own situation and functions, various problems tend to occur in regional medical cooperation. This will not only help the center obtain emergency patient collaborative transportation fees, but also lead to increased profits and reduced burden on doctors for local affiliated hospitals due to an increase in the number of surgeries, and will also lead to early treatment and prevention of decline in ADL for local patients. I believe this was a WIN-WIN initiative for all involved. In addition, in recent years, the strain on emergency transportation services by fire department ambulances has often become a problem in the industry and in the region, and it is hoped that this system will lead to resolving these problems in the region.
In this way, I felt that WanKone was a very good system for
strengthening regional medical cooperation in order to improve patient treatment results for the region as a whole and maintain the health of residents. In the future, everyone involved in local emergency medical care will continue to work together to contribute to the development of emergency medical care and the maintenance of patient health while staying closely connected to the community. ”
* Hide Odawara, General Manager of “WanKone” Division, Leverages Medical Care Co., Ltd. *
“This was the first time for our company to incorporate WanKone in our emergency cooperation department. Kitasato University Medical Center has assigned a full-time follow-up person to take on this large project, and we have attended pre-meetings with each partner medical institution, as well as being stationed at the hospital on the first day of implementation. I feel that we were able to achieve a smooth implementation by following up on this issue.
In fact, as a case study, we have achieved results in transferring patients to different hospitals using the system of this project, and we have also heard the impressions of Mr. Tamura and other staff members, so other hospitals are encouraging similar initiatives. We have been receiving more and more inquiries about wanting to do this. In the future, we hope to expand the scope of our contribution to other medical areas as well, and expand our contribution to a system that plays a part in the development of local medical care and the concept of comprehensive community care. ”
