The concept of the production processing class taught by Professor Yasui is not just manufacturing, but the theme of “the importance of designing the production of things with the end of use in mind.” By learning specialized knowledge in engineering fields related to each level of product design, production design, and production management, we aim to become leaders who can build future circular production processes and practice quality control. . By considering product life from the stage of product design, it becomes easier to reuse and recycle products, which becomes the basis for building a
recycling-oriented society to protect the global environment.

* Introducing our efforts to adopt a circular business model * For the 35 years since our establishment, our corporate philosophy has been to consistently promote the reuse and recycling of IT equipment, and to contribute to society by suppressing global environmental degradation and reusing resources. In the on-site lecture, we introduced a circular business based on the “IT life cycle” business model, with the goal of creating a new standard for a sustainable society.
With our nationwide Re-Value service*1, we collect and recover all IT assets, including PCs used by private companies, government offices, educational institutions, etc., and refurbish PCs that are still usable*. I explained that by doing step 2, you can use it like a new product. In addition, we kit our reused PCs to reduce costs in terms of the environment and money, in accordance with customer requests. We also explained to students the LCM service*3, a reusable computer rental service provided as PC(R). He also explained that by recycling equipment that can no longer be used, we support the IT life cycle beyond the second cycle.
In addition, we announced that as of September 1, 2023, we have made B-Tech Co., Ltd., a company with strengths in maintenance and support for IT devices, including kitting new computers and medical IT support, a wholly owned subsidiary. He explained that the company is now able to cover the entire IT lifecycle, starting from the upstream parts of computers, which previously were not supported, and emphasized that the entire group will continue to lead the industry by promoting the realization of a recycling-oriented society.

Q.What do you mainly explain when presenting your business model to customers?
A. For example, if we take the Re-Value service, I would like to emphasize that it can reduce various costs. In addition to social contribution and environmental initiatives, we believe that unless customers can actually feel the benefits, they will not use our services. In the first place, we do not treat PCs as “waste”, but instead purchase them as “assets”, which eliminates the need to issue a “manifest” and manage it for five years, which is necessary when disposing of waste. Furthermore, we will completely erase your data by choosing from three types: erasing using special software, erasing magnetically, or physically crushing. We are able to complete the disposal of all OA equipment by ourselves, and are trusted by our 35-year track record in the industry.
Q. How are HDDs and SSDs that have been shredded and data erased handled afterwards?
A. First, upon request, we will take a photograph of the shredded HDD/SSD and send it to the customer along with a data erasure certificate as proof that data erasure has been completed. For customers who choose to erase data using dedicated software, we will provide a data erasure certificate. After that, the items are disassembled, separated, recycled, and sold to resource dealers.
Q.Your LCM service mainly rents reused PCs, but do you plan to handle other types of services besides PCs?
A.Yes. Currently, we are developing our business on a BtoB basis, focusing on desktop PCs, notebook PCs, and LCD monitors.
In the future, even in BtoB, the volume of smartphones and tablets will continue to increase, and if the demand increases more than that of PCs, there may be a shift. At our company, we refer to desktop PCs, notebook PCs, all-in-one PCs, servers, and LCD monitors as the “5 major items,” but of course, if smartphones and tablets are included, the “6 major items,”
7 items” and may change.
Furthermore, just as we could not have imagined a world with smartphones 20 years ago, electronic devices are likely to continue to evolve. A service that collects and purchases computers and IT equipment that customers no longer need. Not only can you reduce disposal costs, but you can also reduce management costs such as manifest acquisition and management, and a wide variety of data deletion methods ensure data deletion and prevent information leaks. We reuse usable equipment, and appropriately recycle unusable equipment through our own intermediate processing plants.
