Survey overview
1. SNS is the trigger for Gen Z travel!
42% said they have decided on a travel destination based on posts on SNS When we asked people who said they had traveled or were planning to travel in 2024, “What made you decide on a destination?”, it was revealed that 42%* of people who decided to travel were from SNS. . The runner-up was 38% of people who answered that “conversations with family and friends were the trigger,” and among Generation Z, data on SNS is more important than real conversations as a basis for deciding travel destinations. I see that it is becoming important.
*Total number of people who answered either “Post on Instagram (influencer or travel-specific account),” “Post on TikTok (influencer or travel-specific account),” or “Post on friend’s SNS.” percentage.

2. Generation Z emphasizes “Taipa” when traveling! ?
It turns out that 25% of people have purchased a flight ticket in the last minute or less than one week in advance!
It has been found that Generation Z who decide to travel because of SNS are also quick to take action.
When asked, “How many days in advance do you purchase airline tickets?”, of the 316 Gen Z respondents who said they had traveled or were planning to travel in 2024, a total of 25% said, “One week before traveling, He revealed that he had the experience of purchasing a flight ticket at the last minute. As the word “Taipa” has become popular, it has been observed that there is a tendency for travel preparation and progress to be carried out efficiently.

3. Also, plan your trip more efficiently! ?
Approximately one in four people said they plan to travel with about a week of preparation time.
We investigated how much time people spend not only purchasing airline tickets, but also planning their entire trip.
We asked 316 Gen Z people who have traveled or are planning to travel in 2024, “How far in advance do you plan your trip on average?” More than one in four (26 %) had planned a last-minute trip starting a week in advance. This result reflects the characteristics of Generation Z, who are quick to react and take action on attractive destinations they discover on social media.

4. Looks great on SNS too! The fun of traveling is not the activities but the photography! ?
We also conducted a survey to find out what Generation Z, who can be said to be motivated by SNS to travel, is looking for in a travel destination.
When asked, “Which of the following would you like to do while traveling?” “Take photos that can only be taken there” came first. This was higher than “relaxing and unwinding” (37%) and “activity” (28%).
From this result, it can be seen that “Gen Z wants to take attractive photos of themselves and post them on SNS when traveling.” At the same time, it can be said that it has been shown that they share their own travel experiences on SNS and have the potential to influence future travelers.
