Starting with the “GOTEMBA MIRAI PROJECT 2024 powered by TGC” kick-off seminar held on Wednesday, July 31st, 30 high school students who will carry the future of Gotemba, along with Shizuoka Prefectural University students and Shizuoka Bank employees as tutors, will discuss 2025. We will spend about eight months until March exploring regional issues, coming up with plans to solve them and communicate their appeal, and take action.
■The second “GOTEMBA MIRAI PROJECT 2024 powered by TGC” will feature video shooting courses by agricultural video creators, a tour of spring water that is a blessing from Mt. Fuji that supports Gotemba’s agriculture, and agricultural and farmer experiences.
As part of fostering civic pride, we held an SNS program seminar. We gave a lecture on basic knowledge of SNS and tips for creating buzz. In addition, we invited two groups of agricultural video creators, Son Machchi and ASOBI Farm, as lecturers, and they gave advice with anecdotes about how they started disseminating agriculture on SNS, how to make videos that go viral on TikTok, and techniques, etc., and how to make them effective. I gave a lecture on how to do promotion.

There are still very few farmers who are posting on SNS, so we hope they will get interested. It’s easy. I want as many people as possible to learn about agriculture and support the younger generation.”

After completing the seminar, the project members toured the pure Futako Mizukami Spring Water, a blessing from Mt. Fuji, and learned about the abundant water that supports Gotemba’s agriculture. We visited a farmer’s inn in Gotemba City that was said to be suitable for people’s needs, and experienced the work of a farmer, such as planting broccoli and cabbage seedlings, harvesting cucumbers, eggplants, okra, and blueberries, and chopping firewood. At the guest house, we were served a lunch made with freshly harvested ingredients. ■In the second Entrepreneurship course, we held a discussion aimed at solving the problems from the first time.
