The impact economy has continued to grow and expand in recent years, with the government’s “substantive policies” specifying the promotion of impact investing, and the balance of impact investing in fiscal 2023 reaching 11,541.4 billion yen (197% compared to last year). One of the most important initiatives within the concept of “impact” is IMM (Impact Measurement and
Management). It is known as a method for visualizing and evaluating the activities of companies and organizations that create value in addition to economic efficiency, leading to growth, and has become increasingly important for impact startups, zebra companies, and NPOs in recent years.
Our company, which has been conducting demonstration experiments on IMM utilization since 2021, has confirmed cases where IMM strengthens a company’s competitive advantage mainly from the following three perspectives.
– Recruitment: Strengthen recruitment activities for the best human resources (skills + values) for your company through visualization of the social value created by your business
– Funding: Achieve optimal funding and fundraising for your company by matching and collaborating with VCs and funders that emphasize social value
– Organizational building: By linking your company’s MVV, etc. with your business, you can strengthen engagement and reduce turnover rate by gaining consensus from management to business promotion members.
We call people * “Impact Officers” * who can solve corporate issues through the implementation of IMM as described above, leading to business promotion and growth.
While the demand for impact officers will increase in the future, the career path for becoming an impact officer has not yet been
established, and there are not enough opportunities to learn about, discuss, and put into practice “impact.” Therefore, we are currently offering an impact officer training program that will be held over 3 months x 2 terms with top runners*

– Understanding the structure of society that leads to system change – Acquire practical knowledge and specialized knowledge of IMM – Acquire the ability to negotiate with diverse stakeholders and create concrete businesses
We provide lectures, case studies, and fieldwork by top runners in each theme. * [Program contents] *
The Impact Officer School is a curriculum consisting of two terms: October to December 2024 (10 lessons in total) and January to March 2025 (10 lessons in total). Based on the online format, we will set a theme that is essential for impact officers for each course, invite experts from each field as instructors, and provide content that is appropriate to the theme.
*In addition to the above, we plan to conduct fieldwork (offline) with businesses selected by UNERI that aim to solve complex social issues. *Schedule and curriculum content may be subject to change. *In the second half, we plan to implement IMM practices at impact startups and NPOs carefully selected by UNERI.
