Notice of four-party collaboration agreement between Coastal Link Co., Ltd., Sumitomo Corporation, Hiroshima University, and Hiroshima National College of Technology
*Four parties are collaborating with Coastal Link Co., Ltd. to take on the challenge of new technology for berthing and landing*

We have concluded a comprehensive partnership agreement with Makoto Hemi (Osakikamijima Town, Hiroshima Prefecture) to develop and demonstrate new technology to realize safe and efficient berthing and docking that will help reduce the risk of ships colliding with mooring facilities.
*Background of the agreement*
This agreement utilizes the specialized fields and resources of each company and research institute through the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism’s Small and Medium Enterprise Innovation Creation Promotion Project, and collaborates on “maritime digital communication technology for ships,” “berthing/berthing information support technology,” and “autonomous ship technology.” The purpose of this project is to develop and conduct demonstration experiments of a system based on this technology.
*VDES is VHF Data Exchange
System is a next-generation maritime digital wireless communication standard that has been established by international organizations such as the International Maritime Organization, and is expected to be introduced worldwide in the future.
* Future outlook *
This project will conduct demonstration experiments and socially implement the developed products by 2027. By doing so, we will advance the transition from traditional analog voice wireless communication, which was inefficient and prone to problems, to digital data communication, and We aim to contribute to the realization of a marine environment where each stakeholder in the region and connected maritime ICT devices can operate efficiently.
