He followed the footsteps of his older brother, Shuhei Kumura, into martial arts. Moved to Tokyo and joined K-1 Gym Gotanda Team Kings. Krush debuted in January 2018. Won the title by defeating Shota Oiwa, Victor Sarabia, and Yasuto Gunji in the 6th Krush Super Bantamweight Tournament. In June 2019, he advanced to the finals of the world’s strongest super bantamweight tournament, but lost to Yuki Takei. In November, he defeated Yuta Hayashi to defend the Krush title for the first time.
In March 2020, he suffered his first loss to then undefeated professional Kodai Kaneko, and in September he defended the Krush title for the second time, rejecting the challenge of Yasuto Gunji. In February 2022, he defeated Momotaro Oniyama in the first round of the 3rd K-1 Super Bantamweight Championship Tournament and Kouki Sasaki in the semifinals to advance to the finals.
