Kakogawa, the town of shogi players, will be offering “experiential” return gifts this year as well. Kakogawa, the town of shogi players ~ Exchange event with related professional shogi players ~
Kakogawa City, Hyogo Prefecture (Mayor: Yasuhiro Okada) has seven professional shogi players connected to the city, and has promoted the concept of “Kakogawa, the City of Shogi Players” and is promoting city development that incorporates shogi, and is conducting various popularization activities. We are working on this.
This time, we will hold an exchange event with professional shogi players connected to Kakogawa City, watch the first move of the 14th Kakogawa Seiryu Tournament finals, and then participate in a large board explanation session. We have planned an event called “Machi Kakogawa – An exchange event with professional shogi players related to the area” and have started accepting applications from August 13th (Tuesday) to September 30th (Monday).
Please note that this networking event is only open to the general public, in addition to hometown taxpayers, on the first day. Applications for general participation will be accepted from August 20th (Tuesday) to September 30th (Monday).

(1) Exchange meeting with professional shogi players ≪Day 1≫ ・Date and time: Saturday, October 12, 2024, 13:30-17:00
・Location: Wellnage Kakogawa (103-3 Shinohara-cho, Kakogawa-cho, Kakogawa-shi) ・Contents: Watching a professional shogi player’s game, talk show, raffle for gifts such as autographed colored paper and folding fans, commemorative photo shoot, and gift of hometown tax-limited original goods.
*For general participants, the “commemorative photo shoot and hometown tax donation limited original goods gift” are not eligible, and the event ends at 4:30 p.m.
(2) After watching the first move of the 14th Kakogawa Seiryu final match, participate in the large-scale commentary session <<2nd day・Date and time: October 13, 2024 (Sunday) 14:00-17:00
・Location: Todayama Kakurinji Temple (424 Kitazaike, Kakogawa-cho, Kakogawa-shi) Wellnage Kakogawa (103-3 Shinohara-cho, Kakogawa-cho, Kakogawa-shi) ・Others: Transportation between JR Kakogawa Station, Kakurinji Temple, and Wellnage Kakogawa will be arranged by the association (free of charge), and accommodation fees are not included.

Kakogawa City has seven professional shogi players associated with the city (Keita Inoue 9th Dan, Toshiaki Kubo 9th Dan, Yo Inaba 8th Dan, Hiromitsu Kamiyoshi 7th Dan, Tsunehei Funae 7th Dan, Yuki Yokoyama 4th Dan, Hirotoshi Ueno 4th Dan). For a certain reason, we are promoting the word “Shogi Player’s Town” to the whole country.
In addition, from the students of Keita Inoue 9th Dan, Yo Inaba 8th Dan, Tatsuya Sugai 8th Dan, Kohei Funae 7th Dan, Wakatake Deguchi 6th Dan, Nagisa Fujimoto 5th Dan, Yuki Yokoyama 4th Dan, Mikio Kariyama 4th Dan, Hirotoshi Ueno 4th Dan. We are producing students.
In Kakogawa City, we hold the “Shogi Festa” event every January where you can interact with professional shogi players, and the “Summer Vacation Shogi Class for Children” in August.
In October, the final match of the Japan Shogi Federation’s official shogi tournament “Kakogawa Seiryu Match,” which will be held for the 14th time this year, will be held at the national treasure “Todayama” in the city.
Shogi is held at Kakurin-ji Temple, making shogi familiar to citizens throughout the year.
