Kaishi Sosou High School (opened in April 2025), a wide-area correspondence system, is holding a series of “Open Global Career Courses” online with internationally active Japanese instructors (planning and management: Lighthouse) .
The purpose of this public lecture is to convey to young people with limitless possibilities the idea of ​​a wide range of career paths that transcend national borders, as well as practical wisdom for surviving in the world. Each time, we invite lecturers who are active in various fields around the world to talk about how to build a global career and the “stimulation and joy” they have gained from working with diverse people on the world stage.
The 7th lecturer is Yuu Takahashi, who works at a National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) research institute. When I was a high school student, I was shocked to see footage of NASA’s Mars
exploration project using unmanned vehicles, and I continued my efforts to get a job at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL), which produced and operated the project. Currently, I am engaged in important missions at JPL as a navigation engineer designing the trajectory of a spacecraft for planetary research and development. Mr. Takahashi will talk about the real pleasure of working with engineers and scientists from around the world who are passionate about space research, and what he values ​​in his life and career.

Born in Tokyo. Due to his father’s work, he spent his elementary school years in Singapore. When he was in his second year of high school, he was shocked to see footage of NASA’s Mars Exploration Rover, an unmanned Mars exploration project, and decided to get a job at Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL), which was responsible for its production and operation. aim. After graduating from high school in Japan, he entered Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Arizona, USA. After graduating from the same university in 2007, he entered graduate school at the University of Colorado Boulder and received his doctorate in 2013. In the same year, he started working at NASA’s JPL and is currently in his current position.
