Mine Kawakami Kasuga Taisha Shrine Dedicated Piano Recital to be held on October 26, 2024
*This year too, Mine Kawakami will perform a dedication recital at Kasuga Taisha Shrine in Nara. In 2024, please join us in discovering Mine Kawakami’s musical world, which has further deepened its sensibilities in the silence of nature in Finland, Scandinavia, and Colombia, South America. *
From 18:00 on Saturday, October 26th, Nara will once again be holding “Kawakami Mine” at the apple garden of Kasuga Taisha Shrine. We will be holding a “Kasuga Taisha Shrine Dedication Piano Recital”. Please enjoy the performance that resonates with the temple grounds, which are steeped in eternal history, and the tranquil space of Kasuga’s primeval forest itself.
Over the past year, Mine Kawakami has been depicting the scenery of her hometown of Nagakute, Aichi Prefecture, and in Santiago de Compostela, where she currently resides, her original song “Ave Maris Stella” has been performed as a mass, one of the three holiest places in Christianity. It is now played in the Santiago Cathedral. His recording activities include playing the pipe organ at the Santiago Cathedral and performing with the 1,000-year-old indigenous ocarina in the great outdoors of the Andes Mountains. In researching his music, he has worked tirelessly to refine his music, including interactions with the Arctic Circle of Finland in Scandinavia and the indigenous peoples of Colombia in South America.
We will deliver to everyone the wonderful blessings we receive from the earth in each and every sound.

[From Mine Kawakami]
Thanks to your support, this year marks the 6th time we have performed at Kasuga Taisha Shrine.
While the situation in Japan and the world is fundamentally changing, when I create music with the piano, an instrument that has remained unchanged for hundreds of years, I want to keep my ears sharp for the unwavering sound that is unfettered by the times. Masu. I feel that the sounds are wind, water, the rustling of trees, and the sounds of insects and animals.
Normally, classical music is tuned around the note “A,” but for me, I can’t help but feel that the tuning axis lies within the echoes of nature. The place where all these sounds have remained unchanged for over 1250 years is the apple garden of Kasuga Taisha Shrine. Once a year, the world’s best piano (SHIGERU KAWAI) is brought to this place. SK-EX) and the sound that resonates with Kasuga Taisha Shrine and the primeval forest is a special concert that brings me back to my origins and musical hometown.
The songs were carefully selected from over 300 songs that he had composed to date, and were in harmony with the nature of the Kasugayama virgin forest, where logging has been prohibited for over 1,000 years. This is a program where you can enjoy being one with the great nature of Kasuga Taisha Shrine. Although we only have a limited number of seats available so that you can enjoy the sound of the insects’ wings and the small rustling of the flowers, we would be very happy if you could come to Kasuga Taisha Shrine to enjoy a special time on an autumn evening.
