By combining the eight famous trains that have colored the railway culture and stories of each era in the long history of Ueno Station, the technique of digital graphics, the human sensibility of
calligraphy, and the art created by real hands, we have created a new work. We will develop this content as a key piece of railway culture dissemination content. In addition to tracing the history of Ueno Station, images of the famous trains of yesteryear are projected on a 100m wall, creating a dynamic production that makes it look as if trains are actually entering and exiting, and a powerful display of train nicknames written by a calligrapher. By combining calligraphy art, you can experience a magnificent art that gives you a nostalgic feeling.

SHIN-REI is an internationally active calligrapher who has a track record of collaboration with various cultural scenes such as sports, music, games, and fashion, and has performed in calligraphy at the Louvre Museum and wrote the title of Judo Grand Slam Osaka 2019. ), we created calligraphy art that is appropriate for the video content that Ueno Station, which serves as a “Cultural Creation HUB,” transmits its cultural values to the world.

2. About demonstration experiment of QR code projection fused with railway images using generative AI
In conjunction with the broadcast of the railway x art content “Famous Trains at Ueno Station,” in cooperation with Epson Sales Corporation and Flyby Corporation, a demonstration experiment of a new technology that utilizes images projected by a projector will be conducted on PLATFORM13.
A QR code fused with a railway graphic image generated by AI will be projected onto the station platform space using a projector. By scanning this QR code with your smartphone’s camera, you can access the JRE MALL site’s special page for goods from eight famous trains. [Reference] Mr. Mami (SHIN-REI)
Calligrapher Mamio Started calligraphy at the age of 7. He has won numerous awards at the Yomiuri Calligraphy Exhibition and the Japan Shogei Institute Exhibition. Regarding calligraphy performances, he is active not only in Japan but also globally, including performances, workshops, and solo exhibitions in Europe, America, and Asia, including calligraphy performances at the Louvre Museum in France. We are actively exploring new possibilities and fields of calligraphy, such as the world’s first collaboration between calligrapher Mami and Water Light Graffiti.
