Osaka Korean Cultural Center (Director: Kim Hyo-ho, hereinafter referred to as On August 28th (Wednesday), to commemorate the 7th anniversary of “Records of the Korean Mission” being registered in UNESCO’s “Memory of the World”, the Japan-Korea Cultural Center held a ceremony in Shiga Prefecture, famous for Lake Biwa, titled
“Japan-Korea from the perspective of the Korean Mission.” We held a “Friendship History Tour in Shiga Prefecture, along the Korean Road.”
The “Korean Highway” is the route taken by Korean envoys in Shiga Prefecture, and is 41km long from present-day Yasu City in Shiga Prefecture to Hikone City.

This history tour was held with the cooperation and sponsorship of museums and local governments, including the Osaka Museum of History, Shiga Prefecture, Nagahama City, Hikone City, and Omihachiman City. In particular, Kenichi Osawa, director of the Osaka Museum of History, who is an expert on Korean envoys, served as a guide and lecturer, increasing the level of expertise as a historical tour.

For this historical tour, which departed in one large 45-passenger bus, 32 participants were selected by lottery, and the winning ratio reached 14:1. I could see that there was a lot of interest in it. In particular, at the Takatsuki Kannon no Sato History and Folklore Museum, tour participants will be able to view materials registered in UNESCO’s Memory of the World list, such as the books by Hoshu Amemori, which are difficult to view except on special occasions. did. In addition, at “Amemori Hoshuan,” I was able to hear directly from director Mitsuo Hirai about Amemori Hoshuan.
In addition, at Soanji Temple and Honganji Hachiman Betsuin, which were used as banquet and resting places for Joseon Tsushin Envoys, you can see portraits thought to be of Joseon Tsushin Envoys and Chinese poems said to have been sung by Chosen Tsushin Envoys. I did.
Participants also had the opportunity to walk directly through some of the remains of the Korean Highway in Omihachiman City.
