First autumn event! To celebrate the sweet potato harvest from all over Japan, the autumn sweet potato event brought to you by “Sweet Potato Expo” will be held from November 1st at Todoroki Ryokuchi in Kawasaki. We will announce store openings!
*Sweet Potato Expo’s long-awaited autumn event! ! *
The Sweet Potato Expo Executive Committee (Representative: Kenji Ishihara, 7-7-26 Nishi-Shinjuku, Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo) will hold an event at Todoroki Green Park in Kawasaki from November 1st (Friday) to November 4th (Monday/holiday), 2024. We would like to inform you that we will be holding the “Super Potato Festival”.
* “Sweet Potato Expo” is the first event to be held in autumn! * The “Sweet Potato Expo” is held every February and attracts many visitors. In addition, the popular “Summer Sweet Potato Expo” is held every summer. Until now, the Sweet Potato Expo Executive Committee has held events during “winter, when sweet potatoes are at their most delicious,” and “summer, when they are the complete opposite.” This year, we will be holding a new event, the Super Potato Festival, in the fall when sweet potato harvest is at its peak. We will carry out a project unique to this time of year, when sweet potatoes are most on the market, using an approach typical of “Sweet Potato Expo”!
(Photos are of past “Sweet Potato Expo” and “Summer Sweet Potato Expo”)
* The main theme is “Celebrating the sweet potato harvest from all over Japan.” *
This is the time when sweet potatoes planted in early spring are harvested after about half a year. For sweet potato producers, this is the time when all their hard work is paying off. And that joy will be felt by the roasted sweet potato shops and sweet potato fans who enjoy these delicious sweet potatoes. In order to share that feeling with everyone, we will be holding a ceremony to celebrate the harvest of sweet potatoes from all over Japan!
What will be carried out is not a tape cut, but an “potato cut”. We will use sweet potato vines that are actually grown by the executive committee, and we will invite guests including sweet potato producing local governments and past Japan Sweet Potato Summit award-winning producers to gather and put the scissors in. Afterwards, a harvest ceremony will be held with all the guests at the venue, the official sweet potato exposition field in Todoroki Green Park.
All sweet potato fans are welcome to come to the venue and celebrate with the representatives of the production area and the producers! (Photos are past “Japan Sweet Potato Summit” award-winning producers and production areas)
