*New career choices for people in their 60s and beyond – What is the evolving senior skill share at Storeca? *
Street Academy Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Shibuya-ku, Tokyo
Representative Director, President and CEO: Fujimoto
Takashi) conducted a survey on “2024 Senior Skill Share Trends.” Investigation background
As Japan enters the era of 100-year lifespans and the birthrate is declining and the population is aging, employment of the elderly has become a social issue. According to the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare’s survey on the employment status of elderly people, while many elderly people have a desire to work, they are unable to find suitable work and are not given employment opportunities.
Under these circumstances, in recent years, more than 4,000 seniors have been working as instructors at Storeca, leveraging their experience and skills, and a new work style called skill sharing has been established. In particular, the number of senior instructors has increased approximately five times compared to five years ago, demonstrating the growing interest in skill sharing among seniors. At Storeca, we conducted a survey regarding skill sharing targeting pre-senior and senior instructors, and based on the results, we analyzed the possibilities and trends of skill sharing in an aging society. We will continue to aim to realize a society where many elderly people can play an active role through skill sharing.
