Blended malt “INAZUMA” by
“Synergy Blend” will be available for limited sale at liquor stores nationwide and on the Nagahama Roman Beer website from October 1, 2024 (Tuesday). *
High Coast Distillery is a distillery located along the Ongerman River, 500 kilometers north of Sweden’s capital Stockholm, right in front of the High Coast, a world heritage site full of the mysteries of Scandinavia. We recently invited Mr. Lars Karlsson, Master Blender of the distillery, to Nagahama Distillery, and we will be introducing bourbon barrel whiskey from High Coast Distillery, peat type bourbon barrel whiskey and sherry quarter barrel whiskey from Nagahama Distillery. Using these two types, we created a whiskey recipe in collaboration with the Nagahama Distillery blender team.
The product name INAZUMA is derived from the prefecture’s name, Shigeru, and the label depicts the nature of Lake Biwa, Sweden’s national bird, the blackbird, and Lake Biwa’s water bird, the swan. Additionally, if you look at Lake Biwa, which is depicted in the center of the label, you can see the exterior of the High Coast Distillery in the background. Enjoy to your heart’s content the unique flavors of each variety, worthy of the name INAZUMA, which has been closely associated with agriculture since ancient times and is said to bring about a rich harvest.

*What is High Coast Distillery?*
High Coast Distillery is located approximately 500 km north of Sweden’s capital Stockholm, very close to the World Heritage Site “High Coast (Höga Kusten)”, and the cool and abundant Ongerman River flows in front of the distillery. I am. At a latitude of 63° north (the northernmost Highland Park Distillery in Scotland is 59°), the temperature drops to -40°C in winter, but the annual temperature difference is as much as 70°C, making for a dynamic climate for ripening. Great feature. When the company was established in 2010, John McDougall, who had previously worked as a manager at Laphroaig and Springbank, cooperated as a consultant. The clear wort is modeled after Japanese whiskey, and the fermentation time is longer on average at 82.5 hours to bring out the gorgeous aroma, and the cut point is narrow to create an elegant new pot.
* What is Nagahama Distillery? *
Nagahama Distillery began operations within the same facility in 2016 as a commemorative project for the 20th anniversary of Nagahama Roman Beer, which was founded in 1996. Inspired by Scottish craft
distilleries, the alembic-shaped pot still and ultra-fine line arms produce an exceptionally rich, fruity grain-based, malt-sweet beer. Nagahama Distillery’s concept of “one brew, one barrel” comes from the fact that each distillation produces approximately 200 liters of unprocessed sake, or one barrel. We carefully craft whiskey every day, pouring our passion into each barrel and creating unique flavors through ingenuity.
