The plan allows you to learn about the history of Japanese tea, which is said to have started when Eisai Zenji, the founder of the Rinzai school of Buddhism, sowed seeds in the Matsukuma area, while also having a variety of experiences such as tea picking and tea making.
* “Eisai Zenji” was the first person to sow tea seeds in Japan * It is said that the founder of the Rinzai sect, “Eisai Zenji,” introduced the current Japanese tea, and about 800 years ago (1191), Eisai completed his training in the Song Dynasty (present-day China). Sefuriyama in the Matsukuma district of Yoshinogari Town, Saga Prefecture, to grow tea.
It is said that it was first sown in Japan in the garden of Ishigamibo in Ryosenji Temple.
This venerable “Eisai tea” is clear golden in color, has a refreshing taste with a unique crunchy flavor, and is characterized by a pleasant kamaka aroma.

Walk through the tea fields to Ishigamibo
You can pray for good luck at the ruins of Reisenji Temple, where Eisai is said to have sown his first tea seeds.
Afterwards, we took a walk through the tea plantations at Iwagamibo, one of the temples of Reisenji Temple (the accommodation at the time). The tea trees growing as they are and the scenery that spreads out in front of you are exceptional.
