Approximately 1 million cosmos flower fields, this year’s peak season is expected to be in early October (Kurihama Flower Country, Yokosuka City) *In addition to being able to freely stroll through the cosmos flower fields, the “Cosmos Festival” event will be held from Saturday, September 7th to Sunday, October 27th, 2024, coinciding with the flowering season*

Yokosuka City Kurihama Hanakuni (designated manager: Yokosuka Hanakuni, Seibu Partners, representative company At Seibu Landscape Co., Ltd., approximately 1 million cosmos trees will begin their blooming season from September at the 1.8 ha flower garden “Cosmos Garden,” one of the largest on the Miura Peninsula. *
At our garden, we manage the planting so that different varieties of cosmos, from early to late blooming, bloom one after another, and the “blooming relay” occurs one after another from September to late October, so the flower garden is maintained over a long period of time. You can enjoy the scenery. It also has a gentle slope, and offers a spectacular view of the city of Kurihama beyond the flower fields that give you a sense of depth.
Also pay attention to the change in color of the flower field due to the flowering relay!
In September, plots of “Lemon Bright” and “Lord Scarlet” are blooming in the front and back of the flower garden.
In October, the “Sensation” in the center of the flower garden blooms, transforming the flower field into mostly pink and white flowers! It will be the peak season

In addition to being able to take a walk through the flower fields, you can also enjoy various events within the park. The popular “Free Flower Picking Competition” will be held every year on October 26th (Saturday) and October 27th (Sunday), which are the final stages of the best viewing season.

Flowering status as of early September 2024
Although the gardens have been affected by the intense heat and heavy rain this year, the staff are carefully managing the gardens on a daily basis, and you can enjoy the beautiful flowers, even though the plants are a little small. Early-blooming cosmos such as “Lemon Bright” and “Rhode Scarlet” are blooming from the end of August. The pink and white “Sensation,” which is “like cosmos,” will bloom and the flower garden will be at its peak in early October. You can enjoy flowers over a long period of time by relaying the blooming of different varieties of cosmos.

In addition, early-blooming cosmos are rare and have bright blue patterns, so they are known as the “blue bee that brings happiness.” You can sometimes see the Namilurimon honey bee, also known as the Japanese bee. Bees are rare and have bright blue markings that are hard to come across. Lucky if you can see it!

Perfect for commemorating! “Chirimen cosmos making” experience This is a workshop where you can make cosmos flowers using chirimen. It is also recommended as a memento or souvenir of your visit.
