Booth related to road infrastructure held at the Welcome Reception for the Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD) Ministerial Meeting
The Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD) Ministerial Meeting was held in Tokyo for two days from August 24th to 25th, 2024, and a welcome reception was held on the evening of the 24th, hosted by Yoko Kamikawa, Minister for Foreign Affairs.
At the venue, booths were set up by government agencies, local governments, private companies, and others, showcasing the latest technology and traditional Japanese technology in a wide range of fields that contribute to Africa’s sustainable development.
NTT Data Group’s JIP Technoscience Co., Ltd. (Headquarters:
Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo, Representative Director and President: Ieiri (Masataka) exhibited their road maintenance product “DRIMS(R)” here.
“DRIMS(R)” is a product that can investigate road irregularities and damage using various sensors and cameras on smartphones. It meets the needs of African countries, which need to survey a wide range of areas at low cost, and has received high interest from ministers and related parties in each country.
We will continue to deepen our cooperation with African countries and contribute to sustainable infrastructure development.

■What is TICAD?
The Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD) is an international conference focused on the development of Africa. Since 1993, it has been led by the Japanese government and jointly organized by the United Nations, UNDP, the World Bank, and the African Union Commission.
It has been held every three years since 2016, and the next TICAD9 is scheduled to be held in Yokohama from August 20th to 22nd, 2025. This is expected to further strengthen ties between Japan and African countries.
