[Public Symposium] New connections and powers that support resolving regional issues ~New developments in intermediate support in Hokkaido~ *New connections and powers that support resolving regional issues – New developments in intermediary support in Hokkaido – Sponsored by a study group on intermediary support functions, held on Tuesday, September 17th*
Background of the event

Regional issues are becoming more complex and diverse due to rapid population decline and aging. Particularly in Hokkaido, where there are many small municipalities, it is important for a variety of actors and people, including NPOs, municipalities, companies, various groups, and resident organizations, to connect and work together to address issues. In addition, there are increasing expectations for the role of intermediary support, which is the ability to weave and support such regional connections.

Last year, intermediary support organizations from all over the country gathered to hold a “Study Group on Intermediate Support Functions” to discuss the intermediary support functions that will be necessary for local communities in the future. At this symposium, we will think together with the participants about the form of
intermediate support that will support Hokkaido in the future, taking into account the new support movements that are emerging in Hokkaido.
